You got to start somewhere

#1 Post by mole973102 »

They really need to release some decent mixes of this track (b-side). I have a poorly leaked demo and its a song that is inspiring me right now.

I'd also like the original demo of Bright Young Things released. The remix isn't as good.
In fact I'd like a demo boxset.

Will that be all, sir?

We were putting out a double CD of ballet music and penning new songs for a new album, but we shall put these trifles on hold and pull the items you mention out of the dusty vault. Will sir accept our apologies for the delay...

LOL. The song as it stands is ok, but a bit generic and with not great production. It is what it is, a C2H era outtake. For me, if they need to release any unreleased track (that I've heard), it has to be Only Love. But if they messed with it one bit, they would destroy it's perfection, so best to leave it as a little gem for us fans.

I asked Neil about "You've Got To Start Somewhere" a few years ago (at the "Catalogue" signing in NYC) and he said he wasn't happy with the lyrics. But I do LOVE the track as well!

I quite like the fact there are these unreleased gems, and like to see them stay this way.

They didnt improve on the demo of Bright Young Things IMO.

They should release a "demo" cd called Raw Pet Shop Boys.

I was mildly disappointed to open up this topic and see that it didn't contain a ludicrous track listing for some 75 minute maxi CD single that exists only in Mole's head.

Retro. :)

All I try and do is live up to the lyrics in 'Party Song'.

I didn't make myself clear - I like demos as they are usually. I'm just getting withdrawl symptoms.
I'd like some that are floating about released as is, CD quality with other demos.

As to Bright Y Thngs, I just can't decide whcih version I prefer. But its a total lost classic.

express yourself to impress, I'm on your side..........come on neil!

for me the song only really gets good in the last chorus wheres theres that sort of call and response thing vocally. musically its very immediatly catchy in a manilowish way.they could have worked on this and made it something alot better.

I like it how they drop out the drums in the start of the second verse though.
