Break 4 Love vs Tell Me Why (The Riddle)
It seems like that "the snow is falling" song is the St. Etienne equivalent of Break 4 Love. Which is the better track?
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

Not big on trance. Not big on Rauhofer either. Break 4 love richard morel mix and the amdursky and laroz mix (particularly) are sublime.
Hello my name is Neil Tennant and I'm Chris Lowe and we're of the Pet Shop Boys.

I thought their cover of Break for Love was pointless. I loved the original.

To me ,the St. Etienne song is total garbage and it must be justified why it's better than Break 4 Love

Saint Etienne by miles. Now if it were the original Break 4 Love you mght be onto something. Peter Rauhofer's mix of I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more is quite alright though. Kind of random poll though. I'm sure there's dozens of techno songs with guest vocalists.

It's a Paul Van Dyk song anyway (featuring Saint Etienne), but most things Saint Etienne touch is gold. I just wish they could sell some records. I do prefer their normal, non-dance stuff.Scapa Flow wrote:To me ,the St. Etienne song is total garbage and it must be justified why it's better than Break 4 Love

Tell Me Why is one of the classic records of the last decade. Break 4 Love is something you download for free, play a few times, and open a mindless poll about. Oh.

Yes. I like their pop version of It's alright but the original is obviously the definitive version. Nobody should cover house classics.Radiophonic wrote:I thought their cover of Break for Love was pointless. I loved the original.

Re: Break 4 Love vs Tell Me Why (The Riddle)
What about the Etienne vocaled track is that much superior to Break 4 Love? To me it sounds like a breath of air just floating along, not much to bother with. At least Break 4 Love, while certainly a tad generic (Ab Fab being another example of generic PSB) has SOME attitude. The Etienne track is so sparse that I almost can't bear listening to the production. It upsets me. Break 4 Love is average, but it sounds full. Sh#t, maybe I'm really missing out on something, but I had the CD single of the Etienne track on and I could just barely make it through.Drico One wrote:Tell Me Why is one of the classic records of the last decade. I don't know, my mercurial friend. Maybe you could open a poll about that.Scapa Flow wrote:What about the Etienne vocaled track is that much superior to Break 4 Love? I must admit I'm at a loss why those two songs are being compared anyway. Is there a common factor I'm missing?

Saint Etienne is a band many PSB fans listen to. Both songs came out around the same time, and both tracks are with techno DJ producers.Radiophonic wrote:I must admit I'm at a loss why those two songs are being compared anyway. Is there a common factor I'm missing?
