Do you have a middling knowledge of Frank Zappa's back cat?

#1 Post by York Minster »

Then I need some help.

I've been listening to Sheik Yerbouti on double cassette on my porch for the last 3/4th year and it's brilliant. But obviously not every Zappa album is like this and he has quite the back catalogue. So, what would be the next recommended albums? And, yes, they probably need to be somewhat accessible like Sheik, although they don't perhaps have to have the deconstructive/silly/subversive-pop/rock vibe, but that wouldn't hurt.
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

I thought the title said, 'Do you have a middling knowledge of Frank Zappa's black cat?', at first! Now I realise you mean his back catalogue.

Perhaps Over-Nite Sensation and Apostrophe (')? The latter contains this excellent jam:
