A new pet text has appeared on the Official PSB homepage stating the forthcoming classical gig in Salford will be on Radio 2 the night after the concert, the 6th December.
I think a CD release is probable. Arranging songs for orchestra and recruiting Johnny Marr is a lot if trouble and expense to go to for a one-time performance without monetizing the end result. Also, doesn't EMI have a distribution agreement with the BBC anyway?
Did I hear correctly that this is being performed in the BBC orchestra studio....? Meaning, it's set up for some high quality recording? I ask because a lot of the time I find live recordings sound like someone hit record on their tape player and set it on the stage, it would be nice if it was better than that.

It's almost certainly going to have high production values. The huge cost of organising and producing it means it will be done properly, just as the "Concrete" concert was done.
I have a feeling it's going to be a BBC Red Button event too.

Just as well because most of us for one reason or another will not get the chance to be there live
