New Bowie video- a little PSB?

#1 Post by Deschanel »

The mesh over Bowie's projected face as Dark Harlequin reminds me of the fencing masks of Alternative.

The sound of Love Is Lost (Hello Steve Reich Mix) that goes with the video has echoes of PSB's "Hallo Spaceboy". I think.

A day late to comment on it, but a pretty great Halloween video last night. And I love Bowie generally, like this video a lot.

Watching someone wash their hands has never been so fun.

I think this might actually be my favourite video from The Next Day campaign. Its remarkable what you can achieve with ideas on the fly. Reportedly cost $12.99 to make, and that expenditure was just for a USB memory stick. The puppets have a bit more history as they could have been the ones from the aborted "The Pretty Things are going to Hell" video from 1999. Irony as it was perhaps the last year DB actively got involved in making music videos until this year.

Its a shame this excellent new video doesn't appear on the DVD of The Next Day collectors edition.
I'm a proud sycophant because I like Wedding in Berlin

Ha, I think that "We made it for $13" is horseshit, a good tagline to get attention though. Someone had to edit it and mix the sound and do the lighting and effects etc., etc. It's definitely a cheap and effective video, but professionals don't work for free, and Bowie's still a multimillionaire. The video didn't edit itself.

It reminds me Radio Ga Ga a little (arrangement).
