"Stranger in Moscow", what about a cover version?

#1 Post by Nickname »

As I see there is not too much movement in the forum these days, I'm going to ask you one question.

I know PSB can make cover versions of whatever they want but I don't know why I was thinking today about the Michael Jackson song "Stranger in Moscow". I know Neil likes this song, not only because it includes the word "Moscow" on it. The thing is this song has a similar atmosphere some PSB's songs have.

I love the Michael Jackson song but what do you think?, would you like PSB wanted to make a cover versión of it or not?

One of MJ's most unique ballads. Lush, sophisticated pop music, but untouchable in my opinion.

Too syrupy, one "Numb" was enough. If that's the pattern I'd much rather they cover or remix "Moskow Diskow" by Telex.

Have you just plucked some random song out of nowhere just to make a poll?

They are NOT going to have another top 10 hit in the UK and you need to realise this.

Id rather they cover some obscure Bavarian folk song than that drivel.

Al Stewart's "Roads to Moscow" would be more appropriate.

The Tee's Freeze mix of Stranger in Moscow is excellent. Turns it into a decent dance humber.

nickname, what other horrific subjects you got forthcoming?

I love reading them though.

No to a cover version, but i do recall it being played on their best songs of the year show for Radio One back in 1995.

I had almost forgotten about stranger in Moscow and it's been great revisiting that gem, on the other hand imho, I don't think it would make a good cover just cause it's too similar to psb style. They usually choose rock tracks and turn them into either pop or dance music.
