A new spinning vinyl playlist featuring fifteen official audio tracks by Pet Shop Boys is now available on YouTube at the link below.

These spinning vinyl videos have been updated with improved high definition audio tracks. The playlist includes selected songs from different PSB albums, including “Please”, “Actually”, “Behaviour” and “Yes”.

Does Youtube support lossless audio playback?

Some great track choices, wonder if they were chosen due to the current situation, all very fitting...

Only missing The End Of The World ;)

I too, want to wake up when this situation is all over. :wall:

I feel like they were chosen for their white labels more than anything!

If I were to post this I'd present it as "hey, the official site has posted a Youtube playlist of PSB audio tracks seemly recorded from vinyl. Nothing is new or exclusive but check it out"
I suppose I should be thankful anything more than a link was posted.

Anyway I'm at a loss for the purpose of this.
I can only guess it must be some trend, or marketing decided this was a good for promotion.
People seem to be enjoying it though.

Nope, it's still limited to 152kbps
These uploads are in 128kbps.

I must say I don’t quite get this either. Is it part of something wider?
Woof.

Total nonsense. Vinyl tracks in 152kbps. I really feel sorry for the official site.

I'm confused by this too. The watching vinyl spin is kind of twee but I dont see any useful purpose to this. Someone explain please.

It is surprising that they received more views and comments than a regular PSB upload (unless it is a brand new single or a brand new album track or B-side) but commenters appear to be genuine profiles. Uploads of old PSB songs usually attract less views, and even a lesser number of comments, at least initially (there are some uploads without any comment and they have been hanging around since 2013). Maybe this notice here was posted on all PSB-related social media pages and fans thought there was something new or fresh. And lyrics are in video details section, which may be attractive for non-English speaking fans.

I do not think there is any deep purpose here; just a marketing gimmick it seems; maybe to get the lion's share from Youtube earnings as all other videos bear the legend "brought to you by Rhino, Awal Digits or Parlaphone" but these videos lack it?

Must admit I thought this was part of a wider thing - i.e. other bands posting up vinyl for some lockdown entertainment ... but seems not to be.

That was my first thought too but it seems to be singular to PSB. But hey, maybe it could start a trend.

Still a bit odd...maybe its "art".

New Order have been doing this for their early albums.

Total nonsense.

I am bored of "content" for isolation's sake.

I agree tottenhammattspurs! - I "don't get it". :? I have seen it before on YouTube with 808 State. I have only seen PSB's wise "I want to wake up". It makes me feel sleepy!
