Re: Emulator II samples
Cool, thanks for the link. I already have an Emulator II sample collection that includes the Love Comes Quickly and Shopping bass sounds.

Re: Emulator II samples
Many thanks, been after this for years.
Why am I dancing when I'm so alone? I can feel tears in my eyes. Are they really justified?
Re: Emulator II samples
i actually had a EII+HD back in the day. sold it a long time ago, but still have some of the floppies for it.

In such geeky mood, musicradar discusses West End girls synths and recreates the synth bass with current software.
https://www.musicradar.com/how-to/the-4 ... -end-girlsKicking off (no pun intended) with the instantly recognisable Oberheim DMX drum machine and layered string samples from both E-mu Emulator I and Emulator II, the meticulously-programmed rhythm parts are driven along by a thick, analogue bass line.
Played - not sequenced - by Lowe, the seemingly simple bass sound was created with a Roland Jupiter-6, layered via MIDI to a Yamaha DX7 percussive patch played in the lower registers. An Emulator bass drum is also there, played chromatically along with the rest.

Re: Emulator II samples
Nice article. I believe it’s well documented that Stephen Hague played the bassline on the record, not Chris. Also, Stephen Hague said in an interview for this very forum that it was an Oberheim OBX mixed with a bit of kick drum, not a Jupiter 6.Enrique wrote: ↑Tue 18 May 2021, 10:28 pm In such geeky mood, musicradar discusses West End girls synths and recreates the synth bass with current software.

Re: Emulator II samples
i have pictures of a magazine article from March 86 about the song. theres a section at the top of the second page that says "Master 24-track" and under it there is a big white rectangle with writing in it. the writing says 1. Trumpet solo, 2. Choir I, 3. Eights on the hi hat, 4. Bass DX-7, 5. Emu bass, 6. Jupiter bass, 7. Emu I strings, 8. Emu II strings, 9. Emu low strings, 10. Bass drum, 11.Hi hat, 12. Snare, 13. Tambourine/real cymbal, 14. Hand clap, 15. Chorus vocals, 16. Traffic left, 17. Conga/cow bell, 18. Traffic right, 19. Choir (for cowbell), 20. Backing vox, 21. Verse vocal. 22. Shaker (DMX) 23. Oberheim time code, 24. EBU code for SSL computer. so im assuming they layered a DX7 bass with an Emulator bass (if anyone finds that sample let me know) with a Jupiter 6 bassTallThinMan wrote: ↑Wed 19 May 2021, 7:09 amNice article.
