James Ford is a highly regarded producer, mixer and songwriter. A talented multi-instrumentalist, he has made albums with some of the biggest names in music, including Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Foals, Gorillaz and Jessie Ware as well as collaborating on recordings with the likes of Kylie Minogue and Florence + the Machine. Having released six albums alongside long-time creative partner Jas Shaw as Simian Mobile Disco, Ford steered the electronic dance scene in new directions and inspired the next generation of artists in his wake.

New album confirmed!! How exciting!!
James Ford...
James Ford is an English record producer and songwriter, known for being a member of Simian Mobile Disco and The Last Shadow Puppets as well as his production work with the Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Florence and the Machine, Depeche Mode, Haim, Gorillaz, Klaxons, Jessie Ware and Kylie Minogue.
Sounds all right to me!

Really exciting about this prospect.
Who knows if they're just recording already created demos, or if the project will also include brand new 2023 material created in collaboration with the producer. (I think that's how it works?)
But either way, it'll be finished eventually.
Really glad they took the time to post this.
(By the way, after writing my above message I see James Ford produced Gorillaz' The Now Now which has to be one of my less favoured Gorillaz albums. And Depeche Mode's Spirit, again one of my less favoured albums compared to their surrounding ones)
I trust Neil & Chris with whatever they'll output though.

Let’s hope he does a better job than with Depeche mode - or any of the other songs he produced. Have some trepidation about this as his production style is cluttered and renders everything tuneless.

But tell us how you REALLY feel!
In my opinion, they chose perfectly, and I wanted this collaboration to happen for ages now. Go listen to Jessie Ware's previous record or Beth Ditto's collaborations with him and you'll see he knows the best way to tug the heartstrings with electronic noise.

Well, an established producer from the 2000's.
New to PSB at least.
I agree though, exciting stuff. I really love the song Hustler by Simian Mobile Disco https://youtu.be/bty-Tt3a5gI
I remember it from 2007 or whatever and did revisit it the other month. I love the attitude and expansive sound.
Listening to a few Simian Mobile Disco songs, they have a fairly comforting but energetic quality.
I can see it fitting with PSB fairly well.
It's great that it's real dance music, no Cricket Wife nonsense. But we'll see.
Looking forward to reading the manifesto for the album. Who knows what theme or vibe they'll be going for.

As someone on Facebook pointed out, James Ford just finished producing Depeche Mode's Memento Mori.

This is super exciting news! He did such a great job producing Jessie Ware’s album What’s your pleasure which is one of my favourite albums of the past few years - listened to it non-stop during the pandemic!

I wonder if The Last Shadow Puppets’ The Age Of The Understatement is a key album here, produced by Ford. Neil was a big fan and Owen Pallett that did the prominent string arrangements went on to work on Yes.
