Which Nonetheless single do you prefer?

Please note - to keep it fair, we're comparing the "single" versions of the A-sides here - in other words, the versions that would have appeared on Smash, if it extended into 2024. We're not assessing the entire "single package" with its b-sides and mixes.

Feel free to comment and explain the reasoning behind your selection.

Dancing star!

Both are great, but ‘Loneliness’ has more depth.

Dancing Star does it for me. I was a bit disappointed after the first listen but then I heart it when the weather was way better – hits different then. I get the story-telling comment by telys.

Loneliness is my preferred song of the two, but the radio edit kills the drama and scope of the song, so I've gone for DS here. It is a long time since I have loved both teaser tracks so much ahead of an album campaign.

I like both, and prefer Loneliness. It is already in my A list of PSB songs.

Even if I only listen to the full version.

Loneliness is head and shoulders a superior single in my view, even the edit. Dancing Star has echoes of Winner and Before which in my opinion should have stayed album tracks. I suspect, like those two, I'll like it better when I hear it in the context of the full album.

I like, but don't love, either of them. Dancing Star gets the nod right now though. Something about the retro sound that hits home.

Inane polls get criticized; this poll is perfectly in keeping with current events.

I love both tracks. Loneliness is magnificent in its full glory, sweeping ominously across the psychological wreckage of a dysfunctional relationship. Dancing star, by contrast, is joyous. As I get older, I tend to prefer my PSB "up". I loved Electric and Super. I adore Will-o-the-wisp. So, I tend to favour Dancing star while feeling pretty excited that both ends of the spectrum are in such good fettle as we await the new album.

As singles, one might argue both are too short - but at least nothing essential appears to have been cut from Dancing star. Loneliness, just like I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more, is short-changed by its 7". Dancing star seems to have been tooled for a three-minute impact and, so, in 7" terms, gets my nod.
