When Marvel eventually make a film featuring Captain Britain, It would be a great Easter Egg to have a PSB song in the film

Way to go, Nebbo! :D

It's going to take about forty more years before the cultural significance of this note of gratitude sinks in but by the time it does, Neil Francis Tennant will be standing at the center of a very strange Venn diagram that encompasses popular music, superhero comics AND... the British culinary book industry. Truly a man for our strange and wonderful times.

I'm still waiting for this guy to publish his book about Marvel Comics UK and reveal the rest of this interview with Neil:

Who d’ya think you are, Captain Britain?
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning. :|
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.

As a superhero comics fan for even longer than a music fan, it's always fun being reminded of and hearing about Neil's stint with Marvel.

I'm grateful to the fan who sent the fan club question asking who his favorite character was. I don't know what guess I would have come up with, maybe Reed Richards, the brainy and elastic leader of the Fantastic Four? Or the sleek and lonely Silver Surfer?

But it made sense hearing the writer of "Delusions of grandeur" nominate imperious Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner (who happens to be one of Marvel's oldest characters of all).

Excelsior!

You've read the interview he did with Marc Bolan?

Hmmm. Just why IS “Joe” holding a copy of Introspective? (ETA: Oh, I get it, this is 1990 so it's a deliberate Easter egg!)

P.s. Love that note from Jim Salicrup! “Easy-going chap” is quite a contrast to Tom Watkins’ opinion of the former Marvel editor, who was, and I quote, “a vicious little git”.

Where was this? It's not in his memoir.

Ach, I could have sworn it was. And now, of course, I can't find the scans. It's part of a story about how he used to ring up the Marvel UK office and borrow their Spiderman outfit for some early promo thing he did, and then return it in poor condition, and Neil would get really pissed off with him.

Was it in one of the Chris Heath books?

I don't think so? The trouble is, I have read/absorbed/inhaled SO MUCH PSB in a very short time that it's all a big, swirling, congealing mass of files, pins and bookmarks right now and I have no idea where anything is because I'm lousy at organizing. I thought it was from Tom's bio, or could just have been an interview.

I've definitely read it, but not direct from Tom's book. It did mention, I think in Literally, that he didn't like Neil in his Marvel days.
