What PSB track (or part of a PSB track) moves you emotionally? (Crying, goosebumps, etc.)
What PSB track (or part of a PSB track) moves you emotionally? (Crying, goosebumps, etc.)
I was just listening Twenty something and came up with this question since it happens to me right after the last verse.
I always get goosebumps because I can't process how beautiful is that bit. (From 3:30 to 3:41 on the album version)
But there are other examples:
- The final build up of To step aside (2:35 to 3:05)
- Last verse of Being boring (I can't stop crying all along when I hear it live)
- The way it used to be, from the instrumental bridge (3:06) onwards.
- The ending of Love is the law.
- The build up to the last chorus on It couldn't happen here.
So, what about you. Are there any bits that make you visibly emotional?

Being Boring, obvs. I've learned not to wear mascara or eyeliner at gigs.
I know there's not a great deal of love for Numb, but it's a go-to track that's seen me through the passing of several loved ones and pets.
Go West (especially with the new backdrop) and Postscript as well.

"Miracles" is my PSB go-to for teary eyes.
It came out around the time my first child was born, and well, "Miracles happen when you're around" clearly fits quite well when you've got that going on in your life. It is "our" song, as far as I'm concerned.
However, life happened and I don't think she even knows this about the song, and maybe she wouldn't care even if she did, which makes it a sad double whammy for me.

Good thread.
The final verse of To Face the Truth.
I always love it when Neil puts pained emotion into his singing, he just doesn't do it enough, like the end of I want to wake up or Memory of the future.

My Father fought in Afghanistan,
his widow's pension ain't worth a damn,
My Mother works and goes home to cry,
I want to live before I die

Oh geez. Where to begin. I was NEVER a ballad person as a young'un but I've discovered that PSB's killer combination of sweetly poignant vocal and gentle lilting chords has an unerring ability to take me out at the knees.
I have a whole PSB Ballads playlist that I'm still adding to, but just off the top of my head: To Face The Truth, Your Funny Uncle, Indefinite Leave To Remain, Later Tonight, It Couldn't Happen Here, It Always Comes As A Surprise, No Time For Tears
I fell down a rabbit hole last night when I realized that there were STILL more b-sides and extras that I hadn't heard but BOY was I an emotional wreck by the end of it: Wiedersehen, Odd Man Out, Inside
From Nonetheless, these two leave me in a big, messy puddle: Love Is The Law, Secret Of Happiness
OK, now WHO THE HELL IS CUTTING ONIONS

Too many to mention but the live version of It Couldn’t Happen Here at The Royal Albert Hall in 2017 hit home
Did Zoe Ball let something slip today? (31:01:24)

I've always gotten emotional at the last verse of Being Boring. It came out when I was 18 and I never thought much of it until about a year later when I realised the depth of emotion and sadness/joy in the lyrics. And of course the video makes me feel more sad as I see it as a moment in time and in youth long since gone. Around the same time, It Must Be Obvious, Nervously and Was It Worth It always felt like they were written about my life at the time, so I still get a nostalgic tear or two...
Why am I dancing when I'm so alone? I can feel tears in my eyes. Are they really justified?

I get goosebumps every time when Neil starts to sing for yhe first time in the Hallo Spaceboy remix. I don’t know why, but it gets me every time.
Re: What PSB track (or part of a PSB track) moves you emotionally? (Crying, goosebumps, etc.)
Great question! I suppose pretty much all PSB songs move me one way or another. But moving me up to and including tears:
Being boring, particularly that final verse, which resonates more and more the older I get.
The coda of Was it worth it? and the lines "I never thought I'd fall in love. I don't know why..."
Decide, particularly the final section. Its release date couldn't have been more fitting.
These are songs that move me in a sad or happysad way. Goosebump moments are another thing altogether, and there are endless examples - Vocal, Always on my mind, Devices... They're masters of the goosebump moment - I think it's one of the things that drives Chris to make music.

I literally cried during Leaving on my first Elysium listening.
Some other songs that made me once shed a tear or two: My October symphony, Your funny uncle from Performance ("Goodnight") and King's Cross from Pandemonium tour.

Excellent topic.
ICHH/YFU/BB of course. They have the ability to make me cry nearly every time. PostScript. These are songs about real loss and bereavement, they mean so much to them and to me also, for my own reasons of course.
Nervously as well. A New Bohemia more recently. I'm sure there are others also.
First time I heard Left to my own devices I got goosebumps as soon as it started. Version Latina the same to me as it starts.
The Theatre makes me angry.
