Hamish Hawk covers So hard

#1 Post by ype »

Hamish Hawk has released an excellent cover of So hard. Well worth checking out. ( I first discovered his music when Neil recommended one of his song on instagram some two or three years ago.)

At least it's not "It's a Sin"

I don't know - it's OK. I'm a curmudgeon and like a bit more pep in my step when it comes to tunes, but you can't put a great song down can you - So Hard is stone cold solid gold.

It is a bit of a waltz, isn't it? Just like the one in the classical Overture to Performance track.

A bit off topic but I listened to the swing version of Can you forgive her? last week and forgot how brilliant it is. Love that "big band" sound and Neil's vocal on it is spot on too.

Greetings,

I took a listen but it sounded drained of life, and breath and blood.

Retro. :)

It's not very good is it. His voice is too moody. That said, good to hear a cover of a song not usually covered. The second track was better.

Sorry but I like this. If you're going to do a cover then "make it your own". Turning this into a 3/4 waltz, stripped down with piano and vocal makes it almost "original'. I'm sure Elvis fans hated Always On My Mind when they heard it because it's so far removed from the original. A 3/4 waltz version of so hard appears in the "overture to performance" so it has history.
is is and isnt isnt
