#1 Post by oakey »

Happy the forum is back online! What happened? Was really worried this was the end after the forum went dead for a couple of days...

Still get a security message when I want to post though

Yes,

after the latest issues and offline times (my webspace was locked, because some AI bots looking up the forum for their business) and the fact, that our hosting provider always push the error on the edge of the owner (of those domains), I finlly had enough and moved all to a new hosting provider (German all-inkl.com group - a young hosting provider, which were happy in geting us over to them).

25 years ago, it was the hosting provider, who rung me up, if there were any issues and helped his butt off to get a proper solution for his customers. In the last couple of years it was an endless story of problems and enough was enough....
HostEurope now is the very same "big player" as all the other big players on hosting websites and all that stuff - no support, no information and all depends on the knownledge of the owner.
After all websites went down last Monday at 10am, I decited (after a couple of hours of search, what the initial error was) to quit the 25 years old contract and moved all pages to a new provider near Dresden/Germany. Same price, more features and with an helpful staff of people, who really working their butts off to bring all back online again - no posts are missing. Forums stopped on Monday, September 15th at 10:03 and the German parts already were back online last Wednesday. The .com, .org and .mobi domains unfortunately did a bit longer, cause you always have a transition time of 5-7 days to move such domains to a new hosting platform.

So welcome back all - sorry for the week offline! Hope all is solved now and we now will have 99% uptime again.

Thank goodness we're back!
Is there any way of being informed next time what is happening?

Either way I'm glad this forum is back online. I come here every day.

Assume, this don't will happen anymore, cause you always can put an "info-page" on top, but if your complete webpack is blocked, it's hard to do anything.
On the other way, I'll look out for a system to send infos to other pages, so at least parts of the community will have an information.

Very well done to have the forum up and running on a new host in such short time! Everything seems to work fine, and isn’t the forum actually faster to browse now than on the old server?
