Disco II (the lost 1988 album)

This "lost album" was recently discussed as it turns out there was a mentioning of it in a music magazine in 1988 [Record Mirror: 46, april 1988 https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Record ... 02-OCR.pdf]
Disco II (1988) never saw the light of day allegedly because EMI put Always on my mind on a hits collection against the will of PSB.

Which tracks would've been on Disco II?
I can say what I would've wanted on in but the question is which tracks were PSB thinking of.
My guess is that it would've had 6 tracks, one of then of course being Always on my mind. Heart was the single being promoted at that moment so a mix of Heart is obvious as well. Keeping true to the Disco-format from '86 there would've also been a remix of a b-side (if available) and perhaps an older track (for Disco the boys brought back tracks recorded in '85). It would also be difficult not to put the nr 1 It's a sin on it.
So a potential track list could be (the *-marked tracks I'm pretty sure about):
1. Always on my mind, either dance mix or the introspective mix*
2. Heart (my favourite is the shorter dance mix by Pettibone)*
3. I get excited (12''/ no fade version or perhaps the sarm west 6-minute mix
4. It's a sin (disco mix)*
5. I want a dog (introspective mix)*
6. Rent (extended mix)

Other contenders are:
Why don't we live together (New York mix)
You know where you went wrong (rough mix)
What have I done to deserve this (extended)
Their own version of I'm not scared but I'm not sure when it was recorded.

It's a sin (Ian Levine mix) and You know where you went wrong (rough mix) should be on it.

And the Always on my mind remix which is an early version of the Introspective mix.

With the exception of Suburbia, the first Disco eschewed the main 12" mixes in favour of rare and US-only versions. They might not have chosen to repeat the formula, but if they had I don't think we'd have seen the regular 12" versions of anything except Heart. Perhaps the remix of Always on my mind that became the album version, one or two of the Ian Levine mixes, maybe even something new.

Would anyone with Photoshop skills like to have a go at a 1988 Disco 2 sleeve, perhaps continuing the theme of a photo off a TV set?!

This is almost exactly the same post and tracklisting already covered in this post and topic and didn't need a new thread: viewtopic.php?p=652396&sid=a730e5752e47 ... f5#p652396

Wonder what that tracklisting would've been. I have a 6 track playlist called 'Disco, Actually' which is the following:

1. Heart (Disco Mix)
2. What Have I Don't To Deserve This? (Extended Mix)
3. I Get Excited (You Get Excited Too) [Full Length Further Listening Version]
4. It's A Sin (Disco Mix)
5. Always On My Mind (Extended Dance Mix)
6. Rent (Extended Mix)

This makes a great listening experience, but doesn't quite fit in with the original Disco's concept, as it's all extended versions of the original single mixes, and doesn't include other remixer's versions. So there's probably an alternative to this swapping out one or two of the other remixes (such as Shep's 'What Have I Done To Deserve This?').

However, PSB were at their absolute peak for extended 12" versions at this point, so my above tracklisting would've made a great 'DIsco 2'.

I’d have thought a remix of I want a dog was destined for this, no? Although I love the remix that ended up on Introspective, getting it reworked with the idea if it being on this album makes more sense. That plus 12 inch mixes of the 5 singles. Done.

This album would've had to been released at the beginning of 1988 to coincide with Heart single release or around New year to benefit from Always on my mind being nr 1.

Introspective could still have happened after Disco2(88) if it had happened... six house tracks... but including another new song rather than Always on my mind (and perhaps another new one instead of I want a dog).

As cool as this hypothetical release would have been, there's no way on earth they could have done a Disco II without forsaking Introspective... (imagine releasing those two back to back!?) and I'm not losing Introspective for a compilation.

IMO, the ideal time for Disco II would have been 1992. It would have allowed them to be a bit choosier about the mixes included, and would have had given them at least some hope of reaching the power of the original.
