Tough question.
If Pet Shop Boys were a small once-off band that lasted 2 years then maybe that question would be suitable, but they're ginormous. In my opinion it's too broad of a question to raise to the most dedicated fans.
Look at Volume, it has 560 pages of the best Pet Shop Boys pictures, with each page often having several.
3 pics that matter? If you said, of 1 particular album era then even then I'd probably struggle.
3 pics of their entire career? Including graphic design, well known photoshoots, lesser known photoshoots, magazine covers, music video stills, album covers, TV appearances, live concert photos, etc etc.
It's too broad of a question. There would have to be tens of thousands of contending 'best' photos.
The book Volume has stirred some controversy of not including enough images, and that's within the already limited scope of focusing mainly on album covers and singles. Fans here have had to explain to each other that it's more an abbreviated and consumable shorter version of showcasing PSB's imagery. And like I said the book has several thousand pictures.
It's almost like asking what are 3 good Pet Shop Boys songs, when they have 500+ and I can listen to them relentlessly without having to skip a song.

It is a HUGE subject to pick from and I have so many faves, but thinking back to where my love of PSB all began, these were the images I snipped out of the cassette sleeve and taped onto my school binder and still love these images.
