I'm a little slow on the uptake, does that mean they have indeed scrapped all of their previous songs (new album) and built the album from scratch (new 'new' album)?
No, they will save some tracks for b-sides and perhaps a future release of some kind.
They always record more tracks than they include on the album - the 'Release' demo CD with several completely unreleased tracks is a testament to this.
