You've Got To Start Somewhere

I know it's tough
But it's not enough
To walk away
All you ever
Wanted from life
Is here today

It may feel dark
But you've got a spark
To light the night
Deep inside
There's nowhere to hide
You've got to fight

Don't walk away
This is your day
Play the part
You've got to start somewhere
Take control
It's in your soul
And in your heart
You've got to start somewhere

You're much more cool
Than all the stage school
Kids out there
You exude
The right attitude
And you don't care

You've been refused
And so you're confused
You want to hide
So express
Yourself to impress
I'm on your side

Don't walk away
This is your day
Play the part
You've got to start somewhere
Take control
It's in your soul
And in your heart
You've got to start somewhere

Look at me, we all make mistakes
With love affairs that end in heartaches
But if you think you've got what it takes
It doesn't have to be this way

I've been there too
And all I could do
Was act like a jerk
Now I've begun
To see what I've done
I'm gonna make it work

Don't walk away (we make mistakes)
This is your day (we feel heartaches)
Play the part (if you've got what it takes)
You've got to start somewhere
Take control (we make mistakes)
It's in your soul (we feel heartaches)
And in your heart (if you've got what it takes)
You've got to start to somewhere
You've got to start to somewhere
You've got to start to somewhere

some of the lyrics make me cringe. it reminds me of those pumped up songs one hears when watching a movie when a character is training for something big and you see them working out while in the background there is some song playing about not giving up. but overall its a cool tune.

It has to be understood in the context of the musical. Showtunes don't need to be all that clever.
It was a cough that carried him off. It was a coffin they carried him off in.
