Integral should have been the first single off the album and im sure it was slated to be the 4th release, but after the failure of Numb to chart highly it wouldn't surprise me if plans for Integral were quietly shelved.

With popularity so high, how can Integral not be released.
PLus, you watch when i.d cards get the go-ahead, Neil will be boiling and demand its release.

This has all been said over and over and over again.
While it's doubtful that it would be released just about everywhere, I think it could be possible that it could be a club-only release in the US, like what was done with Stupid (and Minimal, too, right?). Fundamental hasn't sold well in the US, I assume, and that could be a fairly inexpensive way to sell some more albums, or bring attention back to Fundamental for the grammys, like To Step Aside did with Bilingual ten years ago.
Then again, this would have happened to coincide with the US tour if it were going to happen.

I think that they could make an Integral release in Japan instead of another release of Minimal. In Europe that single is been almost a selling disaster while a good dance hit in US. But in Japan, for the tour, they could think to release a new single, for sure a lot of European fans would run to buy it in the web-strores. While I think that only few crazy Petheads -like me of course- will buy Minimal Japanese Edition (if it will be really released...)

Thanks for all your replies... Although I still feel very sad that this song has been neglected. Also 'The Sodom and Gomorrah show' and 'Fugitive' are songs that would have deserved a better fate and more publicity.
If you have read the survey results (survey # 299) on Wayne's site, you can see it's quite remarkable that 'Integral' is so high on the list. This is the Top 18:
52.7% - Being Boring ¤
29.2% - Always on My Mind
28.9% - Left to My Own Devices
24.7% - It's a Sin
23.5% - West End Girls
22.0% - Can You Forgive Her?
17.8% - King's Cross
16.3% - Domino Dancing
16.3% - Go West
16.3% - Integral
15.4% - Love Comes Quickly
15.4% - Rent
14.8% - What Have I Done to Deserve This? ¤
13.9% - A Red Letter Day
13.6% - This Must Be the Place I Waited Years to Leave
13.3% - My October Symphony
13.3% - Miracles
13.0% - Dreaming of the Queen
'Integral' is really the only new song in the Top 10!
Of course this is only the fans' ratings, which sometimes differ from the general public taste. But I believe that the tastes wouldn't differ so much about 'Integral' - more about 'Being boring' (and maybe 'Left to my own devices' and 'King's cross') which is more appreciated by fans.
And it seems that 'Integral' definitely is the only new, very popular PSB song for fans which hasn't been released as a single!
This is just one survey, but the fate of 'Integral' annoys me, because it sounds like a hit. It is extremely catchy. If you don't like the commercial type of songs, you might get bored to it, but most people seem to like it. I played it to my friend (not a PSB fan) who immediately said that the song sounds very good.
I would like to get an official statement of some sort declaring what were the decisions for not release it as a single. The songs from Fundamental that were singles, were good songs as well, and I like them, but 'Integral' is just huge.

On the interview they gave on Radio 2 about 1/2 an hour ago, Chris said that Integral may now be a single at some point.

And what are they waiting for? Integral: single now! If they wait a little bit more, nobody will not remember that Integral is in Fundamental...

"may ....at some point" so why this hesitation? It's a great pop song, bring it on and make many fans and non fans happy....

Along with good remixes and probably an unreleased song the cd single will sell like crazy!

Could you quote here this moment from interview as a whole, please? Or it was all, word for word?

He said that at the BBC concert they were playing all of their songs from West End girls to Integral and added "which may be a single at some point"

Thank you.
That's all? Was it saying with a touch of irony, or they really will fight for 4th single?

This would only make sense as part of a Disco 4 project or something like that...

Its not as if its going to shift Fundamental in any significant numbers. I just don't think that type of PSB song is the in thing at the moment and as such, it'll creep into the top 20 and slide straight back out.
Of course, any release offering the promise of new tracks is good, I just find it odd for Chris to say its still a possibility. I don't know, maybe they've been buoyed somewhat by the response to the track at the gigs or something. I really can't see the record company running with it.

Maybe EMI is thinking about a re-edition of Fundamental with some new contents like happened fo Bilingual... It's not unusual today that artists make re-edition of thier album one year later the first release (Shakira, Beyoncé, for example...)
