do we know if Chris was doign any music before neil, I mean in terms of writing stuff (i know he w asin one under the 8, etc). I get the feeling jealousy may have been one of the first things he wrote - though I'm probably way off the mark...

I like this. It reminds me a hell of a lot of the pre-fame demos Keane did with the guitars.

Obviously, Jealousy is not the first thing Chris wrote (it's way to complex and sophisticated to be the first song written by anyone) but it's the first song Chris bothered to record on tape. He's said in intervirews that he used to doodle around on the piano for ages writing stuff, but never actually recording any of it (as he never had any of Neil's pop-star aspirations).

And Chris also said that when his parents asked what he was playing on the piano, he just stopped and went off. So even his parents don´t know.

Great of Neil to put this up on the homepage. Very interesting to listen to. Not a particularly great song, IMO, but interesting nonetheless.

This scene shouldn`t miss from a PSB biopic... when it is done. I also remember an old video with them on YouTube, playing Later Tonight, and being so shy... Neil`s hands were even trembling at one point

It's really not that bad. The reverb at the very beginning does sound reggae- and is that the producer ordering Neil to "go!"?

The title is SO psb. Otherwise, it's interesting to reflect about a time where Neil really seemed to prefer Cat Stevens to Kraftwerk, say. It's kind of touching that he made available this demo, which isn't awful at all, but so different.

Good songwriting is good songwriting, I guess, whether guitar or synth. The song's the thing, and this isn't half bad.

It must be really scary to be on tv and playing live. Normally they have backing tapes on tv performances.

Yes, that is the performance, thank you chris -freak . It seemed to me completely live, though.

That one IS live. But most of their other tv performances aren´t.
