This record that we unite, zazhdalis and already, to some extent, get lost. In 1995, PSB done us a wonderful gift, summarizing the decade for the band issuance dvuhdiskovoy Alternative Pet Shop Boys, a collection of songs from their B-storonah singles for different reasons than HST into albums. After its withdrawal Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe with a new force continued to write songs for B-storon singles, raising culture bisaydov to a totally new level, Odex today probably any other perpetrator. Over the past 12 years the number of the songs more than three dozen, but the second "alternative" all fell, and fell. And we fenam had to take matters into its own hands. In this book you will find 34 songs, carefully collected from all 16 foot from the Pet Shop Boys singles from the album Bilingual, as well as a special gift to the official singles Fan-kluba for Christmas 1997. In compiling this collection we have strictly followed the precepts on which the PSB made its Alternative. All songs are each other as part of its publication in B-storonah singles and divided into two disks thematically albomnomu principle. Like the Pet Shop Boys, drives our collections contain the same number of songs, and the first disc also got a little longer time. We are not trying to do that on purpose, so it was not itself, which made us even more pleasure. We want to do the right, and we have that happen. You can say that we are doing wrong, producing pirate Hell, thereby stripping them PSB a loaf of bread by denying them legitimate salary. What we have to answer that if Pet Shop Boys want to earn money for their second round bisaydov, they should have already done so, without waiting for our patience has run out. Note, all singles, with the elaboration of the collection, had been bought from us PSB for us honestly earned money. Moreover, we do not set ourselves the task of earning any money from our collection, and do not even think that discourage us spent the funds for its creation. We did the collection first and foremost for themselves and their friends, the same as we fans creativity and Chris Neil, so we have limited the number of copies printed 12 copies, each of which will be donated to people dear to us. Certainly, we can give anyone wishing to download the collection via the Internet, with one, though strict condition, namely : if the Pet Shop Boys vypustyat-taki official analogue our collection, it promises us to the store and buy a license disc. However, we think that everyone respects the fan would do likewise without reminders. We call this collection Beside based on the sounds to B-storonoy (b-side) floor. Once someone said that this is exactly what PSB would call his release in 1995, has yet to come up the Alternative. Well, perhaps, and in this we have been able to maintain the spirit of creativity Pet Shop Boys, and bring it into this collection for all of you.

You adduced almost full list of b-sides from last decade (of course, then dVTB or someone else will come and blame us for including "Confidential" demo and new recording of "Discoteca" in "b-side" category, but I don't care), but you forgot about "Positive Role Model" ("London" single - and please don't tell me about "Disco 3" since "Some Speculation", "Euroboy" and "Decadence" was on limited US edition of "Disco 2" before they appeared on "Alternative" one). So we have ~150 minutes instead of 140, in 37 tracks. Which songs PSB would set aside? I guess, its would be mentioned above "Confidential" & "Discoteca" and also "Break 4 Love" & 7" of "No Time for Tears".
TwizzleUK wrote:But would they call it 'Alternative 2' or 'Besides'? I prefer 'Alternative 2'.
I strongly doubt they would call it as existent bootleg. Even if they don't know about "Beside", EMI management surely know. Not best marketing move and not so PSBish as well, don't you think?
TwizzleUK wrote:I think this would make a fantastic compilation. Some of these tracks have only been available on DVD single formats, not on CD - and won't appear on 'Further Listening' bonus discs for some time yet.
Fully agree! Fundamental FL has to date more than 30 possible tracks :), though all 2006 b-sides will appear there.
TwizzleUK wrote:A "B-sides concert" residency at a Savoy-style venue for four or five nights would be a great way to promote the compilation, picking tracks from both Alternative collections.
Once more.

Here's a repost of my message from another thread, to which Drem replied in this thread (above)

This can easily fit on two CDs, if they don't include the handful of live tracks that have been on singles:

(Disc 1)
1. The Truck Driver And His Mate 3:34
2. Hit And Miss 4:06
3. In The Night 1995 4:18
4. Betrayed 5:17
5. How I Learned To Hate Rock 'N' Roll 4:38
6. Discoteca (New Version) 3:46
7. The Calm Before The Storm 2:46
8. Confidential (1992 Demo For Tina Turner) 4:45
9. The Boy Who Couldn't Keep His Clothes On 5:44
10. Delusions Of Grandieur 5:02
11. The View From Your Balcony 3:43
12. Disco Potential 4:07
13. Silver Age 3:33
14. Screaming 4:57
15. Je T'aime… Moi Non Plus 4:12
16. The Ghost Of Myself 4:03
17. Casting A Shadow 4:37
(73:19)

(Disc 2)
1. Lies 4:42
2. Sail Away 4:34
3. Sexy Northener 3:40
4. Always 5:05
5. Break 4 Love (UK Radio Edit) 3:27
6. Nightlife 3:56
7. Searching For The Face Of Jesus 3:25
8. Between Two Islands 5:12
9. Friendly Fire 3:22
10. We’re The Pet Shop Boys 4:37
11. Transparent 3:52
12. I Didn’t Get Where I Am Today 3:38
13. The Resurrectionist 3:10
14. Girls Don't Cry 2:34
15. In Private 4:11
16. Blue On Blue 3:13
17. No Time For Tears (7-Inch Mix) 3:37
18. Party Song 3:43
19. Bright Young Things 4:56
(74:47)

Note that 'Party Song' comes before 'Bright Young Things', as this is the order they appeared on the CD, rather than the incorrect order that appeared on the 'Numb' sleeve! But would they call it 'Alternative 2' or 'Besides'? I prefer 'Alternative 2'.

I think this would make a fantastic compilation. Some of these tracks have only been available on DVD single formats, not on CD - and won't appear on 'Further Listening' bonus discs for some time yet. Ending with 'Bright Young Things' would be a great finale, and I'd love to read the sleevenotes that would accompany this release. So many great tracks on these two CDs, I feel! A "B-sides concert" residency at a Savoy-style venue for four or five nights would be a great way to promote the compilation, picking tracks from both Alternative collections.

The only B-sides missing are:

Girls & Boys (Live In Rio) 5:03
Always On My Mind (Live) 4:02
Being Boring (Live) 6:44
Red Letter Day (Live) 3:47
Love Comes Quickly (Live) 5:03
West End Girls (Live At The Mermaid Theatre) 4:54[/b]

Commercially produced audio CDs (and most modern CD-Rs) can hold up to 79 minutes and 58 seconds of audio, so my list can easily fit on - plus another couple, if running times are short enough. Although I'm guessing there will be no single releases for a while, and that this comilation will come out sooner rather than later.

I didn't include 'Positive Role Model' as it's already available on 'Disco 3' and 'London' only came out in Germany. As for 'Discoteca (New Version)', this is no different to 'Violence (Hacienda Version)' featuring on the original 'Alternative'. Remember that a few B-sides were missing from the first 'Alternative': 'Overture To Performance', 'Can You Forgive Her? (Swing Version)', 'I Want To Wake Up (1993 Remix)','Girls & Boys (Live In Rio)', 'How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously?' (7" mix still unavailable on CD!). I'm sure they'll not include the live versions of singles that have been on some recent B-sides, and tracks already on main albums.

Alternative made sense because we didn't have many of the songs on CD.

Alternative makes no sense because all the songs have already been released on CD.

To that end, it would be no better value than Disco 4.

New material please, not new "product".

Retro. :)

They aren't all available on CD - many have just been audio on DVD singles. The audio on this may well be compressed mp3 versions of the tracks, meaning CD would be higher quality.

Hey you guys!!!
What about the rest of the world? I just think you´re thinking in European continent! LOL
A brand new collection of their recent b´sides and bonus tracks is very necessary to the rest of the world market where CD singles aren´t avaiable commercially and never did.

True... but this is a more an argument for including them on a later Further Listening compilation, than an otherwise completely redundant Alternative 2.

A "redundant" Alternative 2, that many people here sound very pleased to hear announced - including myself.

If you feel you don't need this release, then don't purchase it when it comes out - quite a simple equation.

"redundant"
That's the title.

'Redundant Pet Shop Boys'

'An inexplicable compilation of b-sides and extra tracks ALREADY available on CD, and some of the naffer one's previously and quite rightly shoved onto to DVD, but in the public domain, that only every PSB fan can already throw together. Contains a new but not very original or searching interview with Bogboi and art work by Sam Taylor-Wood. The perfect stop gap until the forthcoming new album, 'Derek' due in Autumn 2010!'

Not due for release.
