Nice song. A grower. Although it's not the same smash sensation I felt when I first listened Can you forgive her?.
I give it an 8.
Will 9 out of 10 do?

It reminds me of Soft Cell's Tainted Love but not as dark and I love the production.
Yes I got echoes of Soft Cell too.

Which sound is that? The sampled acoustic guitars and old drum machines of Loveboat? The 8-minute ambient soundscapes of the self-titled? The minimalist analogue festival of Chorus? The pastoral electropop folk of I Say? The pure synthpop of Nightbird? Amongst other sounds, not sure which one you are talking of.

yes that is weird to say, i love both erasure and the pet shop boys, but vince clarke and erasure have made some great music since 1990 ... i think that people who say such things probably do not know about the band so they cover that up by saying bad things ... maybe mind your own business unless you know a certain degree ...
hello to all, i cannot wait for this new psb album!!!!!!!!!!!! i will dance and dance ... and as i did at the erasure concert too!!!!

Sorry, I didn't try to be angry. Don't want to be a nuisance.
It's only that the song reminds me a lot of Erasure but, though I've been in the EIS club since the early 90's, I think they haven't been as creative as PSB during the 90's and this decade.
It was only a comment and my personal opinion, not trying to make any war of it.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Just heard it. For the first time since 'Very', I actually like the initial single!
I started listening and thought' Oh no, another Home And Dry'! Then it went into a weird kind of Football anthem kinda thing. Could definitely sing this one when I'm bladdered. But..it''s not a romantic song so the title is a bit misleading.

15 hours since listening,
And it's ... in my head, in my head, "you need love, you need love",
it's like the old days,
a good sign.

Can't believe that you, guys and girls, haven't anything else to do apart from counting your listenings and reporting here.
Oh, and the track is nearly brilliant. 7.5/10, and, as many of us, it wasn't first play, when I actually fell in *almost* love with it. It continue to grow for me, and I may rate it as 8 out of 10 in next days, probably.
I find it very interesting that almost everyone describe its sound in his/her own way: for me, it's sounds something like cross between "Can You Forgive Her?", "Before" and "Somebody Else's Business" (a lot of "Disco 3" resemblances, must I say).
But, basically, it bears so many little pieces of true, classic PSB sound, taken from various songs of different eras, all skillfully fused into body of track, that this diversity of reviews (apart from "Can you forgive her??" beats and general positivity) is easily explainable.

Loving it more with every listen. That synth line just keeps going round and round my head. BTW, in the lyrics isn't it
"A big blank cheque to pay your lover off"?
That's what I'm hearing at least. I also hear
"Boy, it's tough getting on in the world", not "Well, it's tough getting on in the world"
I love the idea of PSB performing this at the Brits - it's a song aimed AT the celeb types who'll be there.
"A daddy paying your bills" ... cut to closeup of Paris Hilton ...

Haven't anything else to do? I have a lot to do, but I can listen to the song
while I'm doing something else. And there's no need to count the listenings, as Last.fm does that automatically.
