Its much more under-stated than I was anticipating. Words like "novelty" and mention of a theatre group, football style chant, put me in mind of a full-on PSB stomper.
The lyrics also suggested something along those lines.

But Love etc is moody, quite dark, atmospherically, and its sparse electronics subtely seep in to the consciousness.
I can't really think of a PSB song it sounds like, yet there are familiar themes all over it.

There is something Can't Get You Out of My Head about it, not exactly sure if its anything other than the fact both are fantastic pop songs.

Love etc is easily their best single since Go West.

I'm not rinsing it. I've had 5 listens and won't hear it played on Ken Bruce on Monday (gutted). I'm off to the States, so no chance of hearing it on the radio there!
Hopefully, it'll be all over the airwaves in UK when I get back. So deserves to be.

neils been getting bolder. alot of the recent live stuff I've seen on youtube he's been actually singing live. he sounds good on concrete on alot of songs I didnt think he would try to do live like sodom and gommorah show and numb.

or he could do what he did on craig furgeson show where he sang along with his pre recorded vocal.

It just goes on...and on...and on...and Ariston.

I wonder how far down the road till they do a big band version of the song. like can you forgive her, it lends itself to a horn and brass arrangement.

speed up the rhythm and add some blasting horns

I just realised that Love etc. is very easy to sing to!! i mean, if we could get an instrumental, it'd be a huge karaoke hit its simple, no high,low,BeeGees style singing involved! Good bakground chorus it should sound fantastic live!!

the only other PSB love song one could sing to (to me) was Heart.. now this is the next one

They could run a contest uploading an a cappella version so that fans can make their own mix/version. A similar thing as they did with Minimal, but the song is much better this time.

I totally agree with Daveid - it is slightly beginning to appeal to me - it is certainly very commercial but I hope the rest of the album is more substantial.

You guys with the Sinatra/ Bowie pics have a point..it has a certain "swingy" old-fashioned rhythm..

I like it, I don't love it. It will prob. grow on me, and they always seem to release not-best singles first..

LBD by West End girls are winning for me this weekend, sorry to say.
