press release:
Robbie Williams & Pet Shop Boys
‘She’s Madonna’
Chrysalis / EMI Records
March 5th
Robbie Williams returns with a pulsing new single ‘She’s Madonna’ a collaboration with Pet Shop Boys on March 5th on Chrysalis/EMI Records. Taken from last years ‘Rudebox’ album, ‘She’s Madonna’ see’s Robbie Williams, Neil Tennant & Chris Lowe forming their long threatened super-group in one of Rudebox’s most acclaimed moments, a dynamic piece of synth-pop balladeering at its very finest from this unconquerable trio, one of two tracks that they recorded for the Rudebox album last spring.
The single is backed by spectacular new mixes courtesy of Kris Menace & Chris Lake that look set to tear up dancefloors across the world, and follow in the lineage of incredible remixes from Rudebox already set by the likes of
Switch, Soulwax, Mark Ronson & Chicken Lips amongst others.
Robbie Williams has a long tradition of delivering iconic videos for his tracks, She's Madonna's accompanying clip is no exception, and shows Robbie as we have never seem him before. It was shot recently in Los Angeles during a break before the final Australasian leg of his World tour.
The video features appearances from some of LA’s most famous and infamous drag queens including most notably Alexis Arquette (brother of the famed Arquette acting family siblings Patricia, Rosanna & David) and was made with Swedish director Johan Renck, whose previous video credits include William’s ‘Trippin’’ promo and acclaimed video for the likes of Beyonce, The Streets and Madonna herself. It will be available to watch exclusively online from Friday Jan 19th on
www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 alongside Inner Sanctum subscribers on
www.robbiewilliams.com for a period of 72 hours. From 7am on Friday Jan 19th, BBC Radio 1’s website will be the only place worldwide where the video can be accessed for free
Robbie Williams has just completed the final leg of his record breaking ‘Close Encounters’ World tour, playing to over 3 million people along the way.
‘She’s Madonna’ is released on March 5th on Chrysalis / EMI Records.
‘Rudebox’ – The album is out now.

Ok, I can probably find a PSB mix in that way I like but 90% of the PSB remixes done that way I do not like and do not listen to at all!!
Yeah the Chris Lake mix is worthless. Seems a shame PSB are not doing a maxi mix of She's Madonna.

I've never quite understood why Chris rejected Neil's suggestion that they produce a single for Take That back in the early 90s. I'd have thought Chris was far more of a TT fan than NT.

That would be afwul! If they want She's Madonna to become a flop, *this* is the best way to do it. Let's hope it's just a mistake from HMV.

Well, this is promo's tracklist. But if this won't be mistake of HMV - yeah, it's just killing...

According to a fansite, there's also going to be a cd-maxi with the following on it:
1. She's Madonna
2. She's Madonna (Chris Lake Remix)
3. She's Madonna (Kris Menace Vocal Re-interpretation)
4. She's Madonna (Kris Menace Dub)
The 3-track mentioned before would be the cd-single (perhaps it will become a 2-track later on?)

wink: U KNOW WHO U ARE

according to this individual there is a maxi mix, but his sources are not always 100% reliable
Would have seemed the most obvious thing to have Stuart Price do a mix of She's Madonna but maybe his current boss told him not to.

Robbie Williams is to release a new swing album by the end of the summer.
Executives at the singer's record label EMI are worried after his recent Rudebox album failed to live up to expectations and divided fans. They hope that the new album will turn around Robbie's fortunes and help him to win back his reputation.
A source told the Daily Star: "Rudebox has failed to match the sales of any of Robbie's previous albums and a lot of people are very worried. There's a swing album in the can and the top brass want it in the shops as soon as possible.
"Staff at the label have a lot of affection for Rudebox. But the public hasn't. Everyone's confident that another collection of swing songs will re-connect him to his fanbase."
