I think this part is too repetitious, and I don't like the shoutings. It seems a bit odd to have an "extended" chorus in the beginning of the song. The two later choruses are just half as long, which isn't a bad thing in this case. A pretty unusual structure for a pop song, isn't it?

A bit messy in places, but, surprising, it works reasonably well.

Yes, Hillbilly, it is.

And therein lies it's secret, charm & strength.

Love etc is probably one of the most immediate and catchy songs they've ever done. I absolutely cannot get it out of my head, and for that reason alone it's probably a great first single. It's very electronic and sounds utterly modern and contemporary but at the same time, it's classic PSB. It's absolutely beautifully produced - crisp and clean with some great modern keyboard and percussion sounds.

It's desperately cool, with a laid back almost swing vibe - it's in triple time (probably 6/8 or 12/8) like 'Can You Forgive Her', but faster. It has loads of hooks. The "you need more, you need more, you need more, you need loooooooove" being particularly catchy. You've read the lyrics, which work well in the overall context of the song. The call and response section of the chorus is - as some others have mentioned - reminsiscent of Tubthumping by Chumbawumba (in that it's a sort of male group chant/shout). Are Neil and Chris wanting another football terrace chant?

It reminded me straight away of 'Body Language' by MANDY - a big Ibiza club hit from a couple of years ago.

Will it be played on Radio One? I doubt it very much, but I don't really think anything Neil and Chris do now will be played on Radio 1. It'll be big on radio 2. And with much stronger, more typically PSB songs on the album to follow once Love etc has grabbed people's attention, it's a great start to the YES campaign. The next few months are going to be exciting.
I know we've had more excitement on these boards in the last week than at any point in the last three years, but could I be a spoilt brat and ask BimboDuncan if he's any closer to giving us his review, so we can pore over it like depraved piranhas.....?

I can see it becoming a big "chanting" anthem on the next tour, just like the extended version of Being Boring on the Nightlife tour. :yeah:

Pardon my ignorance...is 22,929 YouTube views really high or abysmally low?
