Yeah, IMO. I don't know what happened really. Like i said before, they should have taken a long break. They still should but it might be too late now. There seems to be a lack of interest from them both. Or maybe a lack of patience.

I like Erasure and "Nightbird" is one of the best albums I've heard in the last years.

Of course Erasure aren't "spoiling" the Pets' so-called big day - it is just posters playing devil's advocate for the sake of argument. It isn't as if this debate hasn't been had on these boards several times before. *slips into coma*

I'm bored of this fan fighting. While this is a PSB forum, it's obvious that the majority of fans will state that PSB are the better group but just because Erasure haven't achieved much in the last 14 years, does not mean to say that they are shit. I've enjoyed listening to some of the Erasure releases in the last 10 years but it just doesn't match the class of PSB releases, in music (and packaging).

It upsets me that there is constant quarreling on this forum from fans of both groups. Would it be ideal for a PSB fan who ejoys listening to Erasure to hate PSB? This is what you fans are doing; driving me away from liking the PSB's as much.

There will always be Erasure whether you PSB fans like it or not!

Now can we stop all this f*** fighting? I was hoping for a peaceful Xmas this year!

Funny. I'm not sure I recall the Erasure camp deliberately and somewhat desperately scheduling an album release the week before a lifetime achievement award for their biggest rivals, and another one the week after.

And why announce it just five days after said award was revealed?

That may be true but, playing devil's advocate, the same could be said of PSB as well. PSB have released some fantastic singles during the same period - Before, Se a Vida e, Drunk, Home and Dry, Miracles, I'm With Stupid - but I doubt the man on the street would know any of them apart from Se a Vida e, especially as the latter four hardly received any airplay.

Ultimately, I agree with Dipso and Techno about the debate becoming dull and tedious. Although Erasure have taken a nosedive musically since the mid-1990s, for me Pop! is as good a singles collection as Discography and I may get the new compilation in order to own some of the better material from the later era, which I've so far not bothered to get.

You know I was referring to the tedious "Who is better?" argument. There is another thread in the off-topic section too. BB, even your old mate Techno thinks it has been done to death.

Obviously, that was not the purpose of this thread, as you well know. My points have been largely restricted to the extremely suspect timing of said albums and the even more suspect announcement of them, as well as the fact that some ill-informed non-mathematician claimed Erasure have been more prolific than PSB. Clearly they haven't.

Look at it from another perspective ;- Erasure are releasing an album, using PSB's fantastic career as promotion. It's clever and cheeky but the 2009 Brit Awards is all about Pet Shop Boys. If other artists want to use that for promotion, then surely thats great credit to PSB's sucess.
