i've seen it at 100, then 49, then 37, then back to 49 (assumed an internet cache problem somewhere), and now it seems to be at 35 (although it still says 37 on my itunes)

You may have been looking at a non-updated chart maybe? Some people import the charts to their blogs, Internet pages whatever, and then forget to update

It might be some sort of tactic to make the single stick around for 2 weeks on the trot. If it charts at around 20 - 25 in week 1, it might well stay around the same position the week later when the cds are available again.

I thin kthey did a similar thing with Paninaro 95. Released it on 2 cds but in seperate weeks.

Wasn't it the last single that actually climbed up in its second week rather than tumbling down?

Filthy2002: HMV Leeds do still stock singles, but they're kept by the counter at the far end now, and the section is much smaller than it used to be. When I went in on Monday, there was only one gap in the rack, and, since I was told they'd 'sold out', I assume they did in fact have it in earlier in the day. So it's not all terrible.

They have indeed achieved vinylfail, though. That said, with Jumbo and Crash up the road, HMV was always a bit moot in that area.

I didn't venture to the right hand side of the counter as I assumed that area was entirely the games section now.

Jumbo & Crash have always been my go-to for vinyl. Shame Record Box closed down, found the green EU Break 4 Love promo in there!

It's been creeping up the Amazon download chart, from 31 to 29 and now 26. Download a few copies for your friends, makes a great ringtone.

I think EMI are very happy to have Love Etc as a slow burn rather than a one week hit .. it worked very well for "the loving kind" which charted before the official release because of releasing the video early, and was very effective in promoting the album over christmas. They seem to be very happy to throw love etc under the bus, to better promote yes, and I think this will be clear in the pre-order numbers.

The 2nd single, much like the 2nd single from Bilingual will have a more expensive, and traditional campaign .. I predict :)

Maybe Stephano should write one of his eloquent reviews on Amazon. It'll shift some copies and give us a laugh at the same time.

And could you imagine this day? After "shedloads" of PR, marketing, publicity, a Brit award, etc far beyond the other band's, and PSB still manage to not crack the top 20? Disaster.

I guess the PSB PR machine must be lacking focus then, eh?
