Dare you question my wisdom?
But of course not. I was merely hoping to benefit from your insights

OK then, I simply applied the formula:
(N + E) / (G x Q) = W
Where N is the number of PSB chart hits (38 )
E is the number of PSB forum members (642)
G is the magic number (3)
Q is the reliability factor, which, naturally, is 5.6667
W is, as any mathematician can see, the minimum number of user votes it would take to make the poll "reliable".
As one can easily see, it all adds up to 40!

Congratulations, you've just managed an amazing 9,5 on the Bullshit-o-meter. Not bad

Admittedly the pace of this thread is slowing down alarmingly! Where is peoples sense of responsibility to the community?

..this took a while to do! although the top 5 and bottom 5 were pretty easy
oh and i was just wondering...did anyone else use these factors to rank the songs:
1. test of time factor (i.e. can you rank recent songs as fairly as songs you've loved for more than 10 years..songs that have "stood the test of time")
2. personal relationship with the song (sounds stupid i know, but some songs bring back memories, e.g. the first psb song you ever heard)
or was it basically "its a good song or a bad song or a mediocre song" ranking? ok i'll stop blabbering!

Honestly, I just did it intuitively in a matter of a few minutes and didn't think too much about it. Tomorrow the list might look different. I'd love to spend hours going through each song, but I just don't have the time!

I started but I got bored halfway through. Sorry.

I struggled at first with the basis for ranking, as one could easily just look at the sales and rank them per sales. It would subscribe to the theory that the best singles were the best selling.
But the task was to rank them per your favorites, so I pulled out my most favorite songs, pulled out the lowest songs, and kept doing that until the list was done. If there were any close calls, then I "ranked" them on their single-ability...

blueswan: hehe..yeah, well i was thinking more of a permanent "all time" list, one that wouldn't change by much. but yes, if you don't have time its better to do it by the gut-feeling
kirk: that's what i did too

(kind of!)

StatsFreak is going to analyze the figures and put up a combined chart - or so I'm led to believe.
