Of course not. If you are a person in the public eye, like Guy is, why should it be libellous to be mentioned in a song? Naturally, if there was a line in the song that could be interpreted as slander (like "Guy Ritchie is a c***"), that would be a different thing, but naturally one can be mentioned in a song in a similar way as one can be mentioned in a newspaper.

The Mega Top 50 result (currently #43 in that chart) is due in the weekend.
... and that result is #33

So it's doing well in the official chart, even before it's physical release. Good signs.

I didn't mean that it might be libellous to mention his name just that if you are mentioned in a song by name whether you would need to give permission or not. For instance, Robbie went to Madonna personally with the song but it seems he didn't need to do that.

But "we're" not counting Bowie, are we?

A Bowie-obsessed forum user who pops up every now and then, who made just 19 posts but *immediately* remembers me 'forgetting' Bowie. I wonder who that could be. I bet you're familiar with the person who started THIS topic, though:
viewtopic.php?t=15543
Dude, why is one Bowie obsessed to ask you to explain a bizarre nonsensical post you made? (and obviously it's not the first either, from what I gather. You certainly appear to know how to say something that can be easily ridiculed. You really make no sense at all.)
This is the post in question:
dVTB wrote:hestha1 wrote:Neil has been clever enough to squeeze his vocals on most of the songs PSB have remixed or produced for others, let alone a joint single. Off the top of my head:

That's not all. You can also hear Neil on "Nothing Has Been Proved" by Dusty Springfield and "The Crying Game" by Boy George. And we're not counting Bowie.
As I said at the time I made a rough list off the top of my head and not intending to be complete in any way. We could also add the Pete Burns single of course.
But your sentence stating "we're" (is this the royal "we" by any chance? You do appear quite queen-like at times) not counting Bowie makes about as much sense as asking Michael Jackson to babysit your kids.
Hello (sic) Spaceboy was remixed and produced by PSB and features Neil's vocals, so in what way does it not count?
And don't forget to take your medication once you've answered OK? On second thoughts it might be better if you take it before you post, then we might possibly get some kind of rational logical post from you, though I know that's asking a lot.

The reason why I thought Bowie shouldn't be counted, is because it's not Neil 'squeezing' his voice into it, with some background vocals, but because it's basically a full duet. So it's way MORE than just some background vocals.
Some people, seem to enjoy suggesting that I'm on medication. I don't need medication to function properly, nor before, nor after posting messages over here. Furthermore, I'm not the slightest bit interested in 'discussing' with you, hestha1. I consider you a troll. I don't discuss with people who *I think* are aliases of banned ex-forum members, no matter if my suspicion is wrong or right.

The news is almost
too fantastic to be true, but on a Wikipedia-site
I just read the chart result of She's Madonna for week 2 in the Dutch Top 40...
Last time, this same website announced the #36 entry a few days before
the Top 40 appeared online, and it turned about to be correct...
So... I have VERY strong reasons to believe that Robbie Williams & Pet Shop Boys
are at
#10
in this week's Top 40 !!!
This is the BEST chart result for a record with PSB involvement, since Go West hit #3 in 1993.
And (apart from the new notes in Go West) it's the first Tennant/Lowe song since "In Private" (1990)
to hit the Dutch top 10 AND top 20.
Additionally, it seems that Robbie is currently having the 4th best selling single, selling 75% of the #1 seller, in the midweeks.

If you'd bothered to read my post properly I mentioned nothing of
backing vocals. I said Neil has managed to squeeze his vocals on to most of the songs PSB have remixed or produced for others. Hallo Spaceboy falls into this category. From what I remember, the original Bowie album version of the song doesn't feature any vocals by Neil.
The song is still credited to David Bowie as the artist btw, so no duet either.

It's hard to know if he was being serious with his question. Neil has been clever enough to squeeze his vocals on most of the songs PSB have remixed or produced for others, let alone a joint single. Off the top of my head:
Cicero
Tina Turner
David Bowie
Madonna
Liza Minnelli
and now the latest being The Killers

Neil is also on Miu "All Or Nothing" released in Japan 2002.

Robbie Williams will win a 'worst album' award tonight
- 'He's not having a good time of it,' said NME editor Conor McNicholas
Robbie Williams will 'win' Worst Album at the Shockwaves NME Awards tonight (01.03.07).
The troubled singer is set to be awarded the unwanted 'prize', voted for by the readers of the British music magazine, for his widely-panned LP Rudebox.
NME editor Conor McNicholas said: "Readers have been clamouring to elect Robbie's Rudebox as their Worst Album. He's not having a good time of it."
The humiliating accolade comes after Robbie failed to take home any awards at last month's BRITs.
In contrast, his reunited former band Take That topped off a successful comeback year by winning the British Single prize for their hit Patience at the ceremony.
Robbie's bitter rival Oasis were also honoured with the prestigious Outstanding Contribution To Music award.
Robbie is currently undergoing treatment for his prescription drug addiction in Arizona's Meadows rehab centre.

So doing the same music as always is good. And releasing a risky, daring album is bad. Great.

Don't take this whole 'bad album' thing seriously, certainly not the PSB involvement, since the 2 PSB-produced tracks are often hailed as the best ones from that album.
It's just popular to slag off Robbie, because Take That made a comeback.
