totally alig.there is a big time sacred cow philosphy operating here in america when it concerns minoritys.

this crazy politicaly correct mentality and media machinery here totally breaks down when a minority is the focus.

they show a total unwillingness to adress a minoritys double standards. its off limits and uncomfortable for the usual razor sharp media.african americans get a pass.almost like they've built up bonus points.

there was a funny article on it the other week, how white people jump around in church and they are considered fundi wacko's, and african americans do it in their baptist churches and its "just how they are".kid gloves.

Why is it that I can talk about issues and others respond with personal attacks ?

For over 30 years conservative parties around the world have been advocating de-regulation.
(In fact the word "conservative" is a misnomer as the parties of the right are the advocates of change.
While Labour/Democrat government is more conservative).

This has had great benefits as it freed up markets and the increased trade brought benefits to all.

But in the US deregulation was used to allow crooks to manipulate the system.
Corporate reporting, banking, bankruptcy and other areas were deregulated too much.
Why is it that Enron management were able to gut the company for themselves but nobody reported it.

So if you are right Alig, why is the current downturn far worse in America then elsewhere ?
This is your system. So why are your banks now being bought out by foreigners ?
Why are the rich crooks walking away even richer while a trillion dollars of debt
is being paid for by the American taxpayer ?
Answer : because it is your system.

Answer: Because of socialism introduced by Jimmy Carter, you ignorant liar!
It's not a personal attack when I call you communist fascist. It's a fact. If someone is a racist, I call him racist. If someone is a Nazi, I call him Nazi. And since you are a commie, I call you commie.
Get off the Kool-Aid, you mendacious commie! Like I told you before, it is due to Jimmy Carter's regulation that we are in this mess right now! The Democrats wanted "affordable housing" for people that couldn't afford it. Thus, they made banks give people loans who could never repay them! And since the banks knew that the state would bail them out, they didn't feel personally responsible anymore to care about the repayment of the loans. This is a good example for failed socialism! This behavior was furthered by the Clinton administration. Obama got donations from those banks to the tune of $125,000! All sorts of Democrat leeches got money from those banks! In 2003, Bush introduced a bill to reform the banking system because he knew about the looming crisis but it was blocked by Democrats!
Is there anything you can say to get your point across without lying? GET OUT OF HERE, YOU COMMIE FOOL! i'm putting you on ignore! you are no better than those willing accomplices thatallowed Hitler and Stalin and all the other Pol Pots wreak havoc upon this world. There's no point in talking to someone who's apparently at war with reality and who seems to be suffering from some sort of schizophrenia and Bush derangement syndrom. I am not gonna let myself get dragged down to your levels. You sound like a petulant, whiny child and your arguments are nothing short of delirious commie crap. Goodbye, commie. And remember always to fight capitalism.

The problems are far wider than home loans.
The problems are in corporate governance and not just the US.

The problem is not "capitalism". The problem is when deregulation goes to the point
where it is set up for the bad guy to exploit the system.

In the US, the worst of these were done when the Republicans controlled congress.
That is what I meant by "your system" as opposed to an open honest free market
which I am advocating.

Fighting legalised protected corporate crooks does not make me a commie.

I'm so tired of hearing how humans should govern themselves. Fact is, we're very unstable creatures, and far too different from eachother to ever be able to create some perfect utopia. There's always a group of people under any system of government who feel like they're getting shit on. We should continue evolving and then once we can learn to celebrate differences and diversity, figure out a way to live together without tyranny or oppression. Because the way we are now, anything will fail.

Let's lay off the personal stuff here. I will close the thread if discussion can't stay sensible.

I watched the V.P. debate. Both sides played safe and spoke better
than expected. While Palin scored for not sounding a hillbilly, I think
Biden gained the most as he looked presidential, a safe pair of hands
if the worst happened.

I did some checking and one thing Alig said was correct. Carter did make
it difficult for banks to refuse a home loan. But the problems in the US and
Western system are widespread. Too many safeguards have been taken away
on a range of areas over 30 years. What the right likes to call "de-regulation".

I think we are in a major turning point of history now. From now on "greed
is not good". Government will have to regulate the excess of the market.
If our taxes are being used to bail out the banks, then we want a say in stopping
banks engaging in risky lending. Many other things like bankruptcy, auditing,
ratings, and stock market practices will have to change.

The wild swings only happen in very deregulated economies.
They help the big smart investor but hurt the little guy like me.
And that is why the conservatives favour de-regulation.

And BTW I still have investments and business contacts in the U.S.
So calling me a commie is plain stupidity.

the public IS the problem. well at least minorities in this particular case. one would have to ask, why would banks give out high risk loans in mass amounts to people, did all these bankers get stupid across the boards? or are we to believe banks are just so generous and kind with loans?

nah.....a great article in the paper recently cut thru the PC stuff and told it like it is.

it went on to show years and years and years of intimidation tactics,protests....even pickiting outside the houses of bank managers calling them racists by "minority community orginazers and activists" who engaged in intimidating banks into giving out high risk loans to minority groups with bad credit who went on.... GASP....not to pay the bank back.

its known, but nobody in the debate would touch that, cause it would be casting blame on minoritys which in our political correct insane country is offlimits.

apperently only people in the UK can watch that video and not people outside it, but when you said "those crazy republicans" I pretty much got the gist of what it was.

Ah, I get what your saying Glen. Wow you really are in a different country.
That issue is totally outside our experience and understanding.
Our local right wing guru saying something similar today.
http://www.smh.com.au/news/opinion/gera ... 55826.html

I think the problem is outside that issue. Over de-regulation has happened in several
Western countries. Many Western banks have been lending dangerously for some time.
Corporate reporting and governance is woefully inadequate. Why was Lehman Bros
able to on sell sub prime loans as regular property investment ? Why was the boss
of Lehman Bros paid US$ 480,000,000.00 in the last 8 years while this happened ?
Why are retail banks allowed to be so irresponsible with our money ? Why is a corporate
audit or fund rating worthless (hiding problems) ?

These problems are around the world and while we must all take a share of the blame,
the conservatives obsession with de-regulation must take the lion's share of the blame for these problems.

To focus on "minorities" is missing the real problem.

focusing on minoritys is waranted as its terribly linked to the subject at hand.

the whole mess is kinda simple really. banks gave out endless high risk loans to people who were risks and had bad credit.the majority of them were minoritys.

how or why one wouldnt consider that a relevant issue is beyond me.

they are trapped in a catch 22.if they give out high risk loans,we suffer financial crisis which happened.

if they dont, they are hit with protestors, lawsuits, and intimidation tactics by minortitys which is a major issue in my neck of the globe.

you dont want to fall on the wrong side of these types.they claim racism ....or bias if you dont lend to people with bad credit.
and its a scary thing to be accused of racism in my politically correct wacko country.

they essencially shamed the banks into sending checks of millions to fly out the window to please minorites of years and years.

hell, kickbacks to the banks bosses are small time in relation to the mess writing endless checks to the minorities for years turned out to be.

The self-annnointed Obamessiah worked for ACORN as a community organizer/agitator. ACORN has been convicted numerous times of voter fraud and they're still at it in Ohio right now and other states. And they were also implicated in making banks give out high risk loans through intimidation and blackmail. And this is what Obama did as community organizer. Yet he has the cheek to claim he warned about the morgage crisis?! Obama has no shame! He is a megalomaniac sociopath and narcissist doofus!Once more, people are about to elect a fascist.r. And people are so obtuse they won't listen to the warnings. Go on, elect a Marxist whose best buddies are racist preachers(Rev."Goddamn America" Wright) and unrepentant terrorists(Billy Ayers) and frauds(Tony Rezko). Obama is the most radical Democrat nominee ever and he hates his own country. After all these disasters in history, how on earth can people even consider voting for this fraud with delusions of grandeur?
People never learn from history and and it is a fact that ignorance is the most expensive liability.
