2005 round-up - 30 December '05
Major PSB events of 2005 included:

* The release of Pet Shop Boys' "Back to Mine" double-CD compilation.

* The release of Pet Shop Boys' original music for the film "Battleship Potemkin" and four performances of the music with the Dresdner Sinfoniker in Germany. More performances are planned for 2006.

* Pet Shop Boys appearing onstage with Yoko Ono during her performance at the Meltdown festival in London.

* Pet Shop Boys headlining the Moscow Live 8 concert.

*A new production of "Closer to Heaven" in Brisbane, Australia. A revamped version of this production will be seen in Sydney in 2006.

*Neil and Chris writing new songs in London and Naples and then recording their new album, "Fundamental" with producer Trevor Horn. The album is currently set for release on April 17, 2006.

As well as releasing their new album in 2006, Pet Shop Boys are intending to undertake an extensive tour probably beginning in the early autumn.

A major redesign of this website is also planned to coincide with the release of the new album. In the meantime, we wish all Petheads and visitors to this site a very happy New Year.

Regarding Fundamental's release date it is confusing considering both dates are from reputable sorces!

Tour in autumn is good. At least I manage to get more money before the tour so I can go abroad if needed.

autumn?I thought the whole point of releasing a CD in spring was so they could catch a great summer tour. I want to see them when its hot!

In autumn, it's too late for me ! Not for my patience but for the time during the release of the album and the tour to promote it (sorry for my english)

I don't know but it can be an important detail. I think the release tour began even before the launching of Release (the name was uni-tour but basically it was just the same). It was very cheap and it was like a rock and roll concert, so it didn't need too much time to be ready.
So I think the new concert will be expensive and something new, maybe it's one of the reasons of this delay.
