Barack Obama today accepted the Democratic nomination at
Mile High Stadium (I think I've been there), in Denver Colorado.

In a yet another very powerful speech he outlined some policy detail
and spelt out his belief that America needs change.

Some critic said it was over staged.
Probably a spokesman for "the old white haired guy".
(Love your work Paris).

I assume a majority of folk support Obama, so the poll question is ..
Can he do it ?

Please any posters, no personal attacks. :naughty:

I'm sure he can. That doesn't mean he will. ;)

I think no one decides it. U.S. Gouverment knows who will be the president of USA.
It's just a show.

Al Gore made me laugh with all that crap about Bush squandering America's good reputation.....Vietnam, Cambodia, El Salvador, Cuba, Chile, etc

Assuming Obama isn't taken out by some nutter or the CIA, it'll be interesting to see if he really can change the system or whether he'll be just another ineffectual politician who talked a good game.

And with people like Tiger Woods still voting Republican (remember that the next time you see his cold and empty smile flogging you something on TV) who's to say that the Vietnam vet won't yet triumph?

Yes, he can do it. He has to. The way things are going, our lives could depend on it.

John McCain is rumoured to have chosen a woman, Sarah Palin, as his running mate, which strikes me as being a very interesting tactic indeed...

That's not crap. America's reputation was vastly improved during the Clinton-era and was stilll pretty good during the initial part of Bush II's reign. Infact, right after 9/11 the USA had more international goodwill, than probably ever before. Bush II managed to squander that completely and make the US more unpopular than possibly ever before.

Yes, but that's just what it is: a tactic. If the democrats manages to sell the angle that McCain is underestimating the voters by thinking that women will vote for ANY woman and that Palin was picked solely because she was a woman, with very little experience, then this could backfire.

But the way that the Republicans have generally been able to control the media, I think that Palin was a good choice.

You will if it's McCain and he wants to roll his missile-defense shield into town.

But surely that's the point - 9/11 only happened because they were so unpopular. Let's face it, they've spent the best part of sixty years suiting themselves and I doubt Obama will be much different. The first thing he did when he beat Clinton was to start sucking up to the Jews.

I think he can...I don't have a firm opinion on him yet though. Sometimes he seems like a modern era Kennedy and sometimes I imagine him as just an image to be used, while an evil mastermind actually runs the country from behind the curtains...perhaps I watch too many movies  I think it's time for some Democrats to get in the White House.

Have you seen McCain's lovely running mate?. "Pro-life", member of the NRA, advocates the teaching of "creationism" alongside evolution, doesn't think global warming is man made. What a beautiful person...
