If the rules of receipientship were opened up a bit more to include artists from non-UK colonies, which international act would be worthy of the highest Brits honour after our boys?

And before anyone asks, Michael Jackson had a one-off special Artist Of A Generation award created especially for him the last time PSB were at The Brits in 1996, which was a condition of his performing, so he's unceremoniously excluded. He did upstage Bowie and our boys after all.

My pick is Elvis for this honour since he has made one of the greatest impact on the music industry. However since PSB are getting it, my guess is someone like Madonna would be next, she already got inducted into the US Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!

If I may chip in with a personal, totally unapologetically subjective casting vote, I think I'd like Blondie to get it.

For one, they're the biggest selling American band ever in the UK, with No.1 singles in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

They'd better get their skates on if they want to add to the hat-trick before this decade is out though.

I'd be happy for Madge, Blondie, ABBA or Prince to win. If Bruce Springsteen ever won, I'd have to poke each and every member of the Brits committee in the eye with a blunt pencil. The guy is a huge waste of carbon.

Couldn't agree more. Though I'd love Stevie Wonder to be recognised too. A mere cameo almost upstaging Eurythmics during their Brits set isn't nearly enough.

Hmm, not really a SW fan. 'Superstitious' and 'Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing' are the only ones I really like. I LOATHE 'I Just Called to Say I Love You'. It is actually even more terrible than 'Hello' by Lionel Rich Tea.
