Chris sympathises with Franz Ferdinand, who were unable to work with Xenomania because they felt the team couldn't write with bands who write themselves.

If Xenomania can't write with bands who write themselves, how could they write with Neil & Chris? Reading between the lines in various interviews, I get the impression that if Neil & Chris didn't agree recording some songs co-written by the team, Xenomania would have said "No" to producing the album. Or was it that Tennant & Lowe, sorry I mean Cole, from the start suggested themselves, "We want you to write some music for us"?

I see nothing like that there...


Anyway: "And EMI loved it when they first heard it" (about Release) - I wonder whether EMI would ever turn anything down from them. I mean, surely there is a tendency to be more polite towards a 20 years old band (with this I make no statement on Release, just wondering if someone to whom you generate profit is really objective).
