Wow, this should be a good second half now.

Russia can't have been that crap, after all.

That was solely down to the manager. Cant defend him this time. He must have learnt from previous muppets that you can't play Gerrard & Lampard. FFS, Frank Lampard is f*** crap. He brings on Wright Phillips for Lennon. God knows why. He kept a lump on up front that was awful for his 75 minutes.
Also worth noting that there one striker bullied Caragher and Terry all game. Pathetic perfromance. You have to have players that can pass properly and someone who is going to stand about the 18 yard box and is a goal threat. England basically played 4-6-0.

Terrible by England! My only consolation is that the teams that start badly often go on to win. That's almost certainly a false hope in this case, though...

Carragher is suspended for Slovenia, isn't he? I'm sure that they'll still go through but it was very funny to watch them be outclassed by Algeria.
I don't agree that it's all Capello's fault though; at this level, players have to take some responsibility for themselves. True, I'd have brought Cole on too but they looked like a pub side; Johnson giving the ball away every time he had it, Terry climbing over people and shoving his hand in their face (God knows where's it's been), Fat Frank firing daisy-cutters wide from 35 yards, Rooney with a touch that would shame a rapist.....

Awful.
Yes, the manager can shoulder some of the blame, but the team were woeful. As per the commentary, a lot of players looked nothing like they do playing for their various clubs. I haven't been so disappointed and ashamed since America beat us under the Turnip.

Thats why i blame Capello. He showed stubborness with his refusal to change it. Its also worth noting that you arent getting anything out of Ashley Cole because you cant have both full backs bombing forward. Johnson cant be told to stay back because he cant defend.Patrick Bateman wrote:Carragher is suspended for Slovenia, isn't he? Well the thing with Ashley is that at least we can replace him with the capable Wayne Bri....oh, wait, no, for some reason he didn't feel like coming to the World Cup. Thanks for that, JT. Why couldn't you have shagged Emile Heskey's wife/girlfriend instead?
