Erasure are Erasure, they're not PSB or anyone else. I've been a fairly consistent Erasure fan since 1988 or so and if I have a complaint about Erasure it's that Vince has basically phoned it in since getting married and starting a family. Can't blame him as he's been at it since 1981 and has released more than his share of brilliant moments even before Erasure and basically made himself into a singular figure in the world of pop culture.
He's not the only one either, PSB got fairly comfortable and released 5 or 6 "not bad at all but strictly PSB by the numbers" albums in between Very and Electric with few to none truly stand-out moments inbetween.

Let's be honest....both band's careers are behind them...Tennant's intellectual musings get them mentioned in the bourgeois press, Erasure do not have neither the the cultural or social capital for this....

Their commercial peak perhaps, but to get an album in at #3 and get the album and ticket sales that PSB rack up... it exceeds that of many other artists. In the x2 world, they make even more money proportionally on sales than they did previously.

Erasure are obviously still viable, though you wonder how much they make beyond what could be obtained via a "normal job". Still... given the choice, I'd rather be in a band than have a normal job, so good luck to them.

Erasure still tour and do pretty well, yes they are at smaller venues but touring is where the money is now in music so without doubt they are making a hell of a lot more than anybody doing a "normal job". Plus the royalties from their hits and stuff of course which may not be much but I heard once that one hit can set you up for life, maybe not in today's market but certainly once anyway. That and with the limited edition releases that Erasure have done the last few years. I'd say they have done pretty well financially in their lives.

I accidentally switched on Jools Holland once (and I swear I'll never get the oil stains off the walls as a result) and came across him, among other similar "artists" who sounded like their family jewels were in a vice. I honestly thought for a moment that I was having some sort of strange dream.

Until the Brits renaissance even PSB played Fundamental and Release Tours in venues more or less great as the ones where Erasure played in the last tours, I still don't understand why there are some PSB fans that waste their times attacking another band... this is not a rappers street war.

I've understood to not value an artist by his chart impact, if you think in this way One Direction, Miley Cyrus and co. are best artists in the world. I am able to listen and appreciate bands that make similar music or even if I don't like a band I'm not so angry with them like some guys here, I can define this behaviour childish.
