I don't think so. Disco 4 is not a high-profile release – the stakes are not high, the future of EMI is not depending on it. It's not an expensive campaign to release the album, and it's unlikely to bring back big money. If the takeover was holding the release of Disco 4 back, then the same could and should be said about the thousands of other releases that EMI and its different branch offices all around the world are preparing to release this autumn. A record company is in the business of releasing records and if it stops doing that for any reason, it will make less money. Therefore not releasing planned albums is just terrible business sense.

The rumours about Disco 4 and Integral are so wide-spread now, that they can't be just rumours anymore. It would be bad PR to not squash rumours that have gained such force. The details are still being ironed out, I'm sure, we'll just have to be patient.

I agree completely with your last sentence Eldritch - but let's not downplay the impact a potential takeover can have on a business. I've worked with major companies going through this situation and it can be difficult to get sign-off on buying a new box of biros, let alone anything significant.

Regardless of Disco 4's significance to the EMI group as a whole its release does neccessitate funding for production and marketing etc, and that can be difficult to sanction during a takeover.

But if McDonalds was taken over, it surely wouldn't close its doors and stop selling hamburgers for the duration of the negotiations. A company needs to churn out product in order to not lose money and commercial standing. So I would put the possible delays down to usual record company scheduling problems. Just remember how Fundamental was delayed for six weeks – which definitely had nothing to do with any larger ownership issues.

You might be quite right, delays can occur for many reasons, but a better analogy is that while being taken over McDonalds wouldn't spend money on launching & marketing a new product - they would have course remain trading however. Time will tell - and as long as it gets released then we'll probably forget about the whys and wherefores regarding the delays. I do think it's a possibility however.

If PSB know this song is not going to be promoted on the Radio (for example), they'll do a cheap version of it (for PSB hardcore fans). Rubbish!

I concur. What an utterly bizarre notion, I guess you must have a pretty low opinion of PSB if you feel that they work this way. Still if it doesn't get any radio play, I'm particularly looking forward to the Casiotone mix of Integral mastered in mono.

Yeah - that Bontempi 8 track mix should be great!

On a different note it did occur to me today while listening to Cubism that I couldn't name a single track currently on release that sounds anything like Integral. The PSB combo of big harmonious dance track with lyrics that actually mean something just isn't out there is?

Tell me if I'm missing something and I'll go and buy it straight away!

PS If the world was a fair place this would actually be an important point and it would be the best selling single of 07 - which of course it isn't and it won't be!

Since they have already recorded Integral once, how could a new remixed version even be expensive - unless they drafted in The Russian Army Choir, The London Symphony Orchestra and FC Inter Milan to perform on it?

If you know the single is going to have a good promotion, you spend much more money on it (more orchestral arregments, Trevor Horn working on the new version, etc).

If you know the single is going to have a low promotion, you spend little money on it (a simple remix produced by PSB).

Do you know what I mean?.
