Just like Playing The Angel, Sounds of the Universe took a few listens for me to get into it. Starting to love it now. Current faves are Fragile Tension, Peace, Come Back and Jezebel. The deluxe box set is a good value purchase. The making-of DVD was quite entertaining. Looking forward to the gig at the O2 on 30 May.

#3 in the U.S.A.

at http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/ric ... 7404.story

Depeche Mode notches its highest charting album since 1993 as "Sounds of the Universe" (Mute/Virgin/Capitol) bows at No. 3 with 80,000. The new set gives the veteran band its second-best rank ever on the chart. Its highest came when "Songs of Faith and Devotion" debuted at No. 1 in 1993.

But...
However, "Sounds of the Universe's" opening frame is actually the group's smallest debut sales week for a studio set since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. The act's last four studio offerings have all had opening weeks north of 92,000.

I would have thought that technically PSB were number 4. Theoretically they should have been number 2

The next single won't be "In Sympathy" :( , instead they will release one of Dave's songs (as they did for PTA), this time will be "Hole to Feed", so, maybe for the 4th single if "Perfect" doesn't make it

Today DM did a warm up show in Luxembourg, i don't want to spoil nobody so i'll not post the setlist, just a few comments:

*At least for this show, they played 22 songs (a big set for DM standards)
*3 long forgotten songs had reappeared on the set list.
*1 recent song not played on the last tour reappeared.
*7 songs from SOTU.
*Finally, all the fans moaning about the version of one especific song has ben listened by the band almost 10 years later :D

Well, that's a lot of things, let's see how the tour starts for real at Tel Aviv 8)

Nice pics Pani, so you are for sure going to the show in Bremen right?

What do you think of the new album? It has its moments, but just not great. I am sorry but Dave should not write anymore songs. I simply don't like them at all.

Yep, the worst for me is "Miles Away", even for "Paper Monsters" is bad, it takes the place of good songs like "Light" and "Ghost".

About Comeback, maybe the album version have it's problems but performed live is a very nice track, i saw it's performance at the Jimmy Kimmel and Jools Holland shows and was very good.

I'm listening right now snippets of yesterday's gig and woooow, this has to be their faster setlist in 16 or 19 years :)

P.D: Ohhh, what a releif, listenting to the "Peace" Live snippet, yeap, it's better than the album version :D

Well I love Dave a lot its just that his writing abilities are not like that of Martin's. I am sorry Dave, I love you but stick to the singing.
