I was lucky enough to be in Cornwall to see the solar eclipse on August 11th 1999. Just noticed this link posted on Reddit with Radio 1's commentary along with PSB's Casting A Shadow playing. It was cloudy where I was but to be plunged into absolute darkness over the span of a few minutes was still absolutely thrilling.
In the first of three videos where Neil and Chris discuss the recent ‘Catalogue: 1985-2012’ reissues, they recall a productive phase recording ‘Nightlife’ and how set designer Ian MacNeil and architect Zaha Hadid helped them capture the visual aspect of the album in costume and on stage.
And eating during the interview? Just ain't right!
