An ex Daily Mail journalist on Have I Got News For You admitted that stories were made up to fit the sensationalist headline that was written first. A friend of a friend of mine works as a journalist at The Scum, he told me that the letters pages are made up to fit the opinion of The Sun, they put a dissenting voice in for 'balance'. I have a colleague who used to work for The Star, he has told me a similar practice went on there in his time.
So what you are saying then is that the comments are just made up and that British people have no problem with mass immigration into this country? That is absolute tripe, and you know it. Britain simply cannot deal with another swarm of mass immigration, and this is not about race, If I was from Romania or Bulgaria I would want to come to Britain when the borders open, make no doubt about that but does that make it right? No it doesn't. So tell me, do you think Britain can cope with another influx of migrants? Would you be prepared to fight for your job with somebody willing to earn much less than you? Do you believe Britain has the housing, schools and health service to cope with a huge influx of migrants (which will happen for sure)?
You have plenty of things to say about people posting in this thread, how about actually answering some of these questions I ask? Or are you going to play the race game again? One thing is clear though, you couldn't give a toss about Britain and it's future.

You do realise it's probably immigrants that keep him in a job, don't you?

British workers put in the longest working week in Europe, that is a fact.
Your point? WTF has that got to do with anything? LOL

As for 'putting out children', WTF does that mean?
Quite simply it means having kids for the sake of having them and having kids to get more money out the state. Jesus. it's not that hard to grasp.

2/3 of people on benefit are in some form of work, that is a fact. The government is subsidising companies who want to pay high share dividends and low wages, that is a fact.
What on earth you jibbering on about?

Moderator Comment: Lads, let's all cool it down a bit please. There is no great point in continuing an eternal debate with people whose opinions cannot be changed. It's just going to end up in an abusive slanging match - as we're beginning to see already. The thread can continue if people use restraint. However, there also comes a point where incessant bashing of a small minority of people in a singular ethnic or religious group becomes a sweeping, generalised and targeted attack on all of the members (including the law-abiding who comprise the vast majority) of that religious or ethnic group - especially when that incessant attack is almost exclusively aimed at the same group. We have rules against racism on this board and they will be enforced. Whether people like it or not, we are a multicultural forum. Racism will not be tolerated. In the end, the arbiter of whether a post, or a collection of posts taken in their entirety, can reasonably be construed as racist is the moderator. I have my views on this subject as I've made clear, and people are entitled to disagree with me. I've no issue with that. However, if, in my capacity of moderator, I ask for restraint from contributors to this thread, I'd appreciate it if people cooperate with that request. Cheers.

I finally got to see the most recent posts on this thread. Oh, my. I don`t think I`ll be brave enough to travel again to Britain by myself - and let people know I`m from the infamous Romania. I agree something has to be done in the UK so that they have less immigrants - after all, it`s a question of legislation. I wonder why the British politicians scare people with catastrophic scenarios instead of setting the right laws...

It's nothing about that, it's just about managing immigration, that's all. People are turning this into a race issue which is just wrong. And yes, the right laws need to be set ie setting limits and things like that. People choose to miss the point completely in topics like this and prefer to ignore the real issues and make racist accusations, what I believe should be done is a limit put in place for new European countries which is raised slowly every year until a point where a mass influx just won't happen. It is just not right for Britain to be faced with a sudden huge influx of immigrants, there is no space, schools are full, the health service cannot cope and the job market is just not good enough at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I like multicultural societies, but Britain must remain Britain and its fundamental priciples and heritage must be kept by all and there are times now where I really do see a threat against this, whether you agree with me or not I don't mind but Britain must remain British, is it racist for me to say that? If it is this world really is a crazy place.
And Corina, you are probably safer in Britain than many other countries, don't worry about that, and we know that the vast majority of Romanian's are decent hardworking people, nobody has said otherwise.

For once, I do see Douvres point to an extent but not the way he's been going about it. It's just coming across as ranting.
The situation is out of control though. The benefits system is a complete fail. I know several couples that work the minimum 24 hours a week between them to gain maximum benefits. A family working 24 hours with three kids can claim hundreds a week. It's insanity. There are people out there who can't have a child, then you get some scrobs having kids to bump up the benefits.
Shambles. Too many with no pride. Personally, I think everyone should earn their benefits and those that make no effort to work, simply give them enough to live on and stop them spending the hundreds they get a week on all the latest technology going.

People do earn benefits, that's what taxes are for.....

Here's an example where the benefits system is a bit silly.
I used to work 37 hours a week and take home £1234 every 4 weeks.
I now work 16 hours a week and have my 2 children living wih me...
I now take home £520 every 4 weeks. I pay no tax
I also receive £133 every 4 weeks child benefit.
I also receive £86 every week Child Tax Credit
I also receive £52 every week Working Tax Credit
I rent privately and also claim housing benefit of £400 every 4 weeks
Plus I also get £14 per week Council tax benefit.
So by working less but having kids reside with me and by doing nothing illegal, I am £427 per 4 weeks better off.
Before anyone starts, Its in my childrens best interests to live with me.

New Labour introduced tax credits in order to buy votes. Rather than simply abolishing tax for low earners, tax credits allowed them to manipulate the system. So a working mother could work a half week and make up the difference through tax credits. Ergo two working mothers could do the job of a full-time worker for twice the price. Still, it was two extra votes on Mumsnet.
