People do earn benefits, that's what taxes are for.....

Not if they've just arrived here from Timbuktu they don't.

Here's an example where the benefits system is a bit silly.

I used to work 37 hours a week and take home £1234 every 4 weeks.

I now work 16 hours a week and have my 2 children living wih me...

I now take home £520 every 4 weeks. I pay no tax

I also receive £133 every 4 weeks child benefit.
I also receive £86 every week Child Tax Credit
I also receive £52 every week Working Tax Credit

I rent privately and also claim housing benefit of £400 every 4 weeks
Plus I also get £14 per week Council tax benefit.

So by working less but having kids reside with me and by doing nothing illegal, I am £427 per 4 weeks better off.

Before anyone starts, Its in my childrens best interests to live with me.

New Labour introduced tax credits in order to buy votes. Rather than simply abolishing tax for low earners, tax credits allowed them to manipulate the system. So a working mother could work a half week and make up the difference through tax credits. Ergo two working mothers could do the job of a full-time worker for twice the price. Still, it was two extra votes on Mumsnet.

No, they used it to manipulate the economic system. A working married mother doing half a week could earn the same as a single person working a full week. By bumping up their wage, it allowed them to afford an exorbitant mortgage (two incomes) even though they only worked half a week. Conversely the single person working a full week couldn't afford a mortgage and was therefore paying an exorbitant rate of rent, possibly on the working married mother's buy-to-let.

Any benefit which leaves you better off than people actually working shouldn't exist - see One of the crowd's example. And that's not to demonise people on benefit; it's rather to protect the workers which any genuine left wing party should have been doing. New Labour were bourgeois scum who should be hanging from lamp posts.

What a strange type of socialist you are -I can't be bothered to look up quotes to back this up - a socialist who continually focuses on the 'crimes' of the powerless whilst neglecting the structures of power in which those people make 'choices'.

Thing is, you earn those benefits. So i'm not sure that situation is so bad. Anyone who has worked hard all their lives should be entitled. A lot of people now know every single little way of getting maximum payouts for doing sod all. Having kids to bump up their income is disgusting. Working the minimum hours for maximum gain without making no effort to do more is also disgusting.

Single parents are the ones who should benefit the most. If a couple is working 24 hours max a week to gain 100's in benefits, one of them should be made to work another 24 hours voluntarily to at least earn some of those benefits. If not, some sort of system where they get paid benefits on a card that can only be used to redeem food and pay bills.

There are also a lot of people who try so hard to get a job and they are treated the same as some scrob who stands on the steps of the dole office with a can of cider. Same for all these that strike whenever they please. Just sack the f*** and give the jobs to those that will appreciate them.

The pride is being sucked out the country.

Erm, in what way am I attacking the 'powerless'? I'm only attacking the system; ditto with immigration. I obviously haven't got an issue with immigration per se but rather with the way it was used by New Labour scum in an attempt to consolidate its power base. You simply can't let millions of people into a country without also creating the requisite housing and other infrastructure. Invariably that affected those at the bottom of the pile, rather than the bourgeois liberal elite which accused anybody that contested the tenets of mass immigration of being racist. Of course now the likes of Miliband make public statements about how they got it wrong.

Come on, this country is full of scum benefit scroungers. You only have to walk down my highstreet in the week to see drunks fighting in the street, teen mums with more babies than they can carry and the great unwashed hanging around bookies all day.

There is a simple answer, unemployment benefits should be paid on special cards that can only be used to buy the absolute essentials in life. ie rent, food, clothes. Then when they wanna buy fags and booze or gamble their money away they have to work for it!

Cant wait for for teachers to go on strike again when their yearly allowance of holidays gets cut from 15 weeks to 14, or they have to buy their own pens

The working class are going to be slogging out until they are 75 years old with all these changes to pensions. It's highly likely there wont even be a state pension soon. You will have to work another ten years and probably die anyway. They should go on strike like the public sector do but make sure they coincide it when the best weather is here....
