A mate of mine was contract working in Bradford laying pavements and the locals (Asians) spoken to them like shit, spat and were generally hateful. All British but still the hatred.
The cowards in charge of this country have let this happen, immigrants like in Bradford have no respect whatsoever for Britain and it's culture or British people. Like what Clarissa Wright saw in Leicester, people with no respect for Britain and are even abusive the non Muslim British citizens and it is absolutely scandalous. They don't have so many problems like this in France because the French people have the guts to speak up and protect their country from such behavior but not here. We all need to rise up against this and bring back respect in this country to people of all race and religions and I'd say simply that if you are not happy with that then go home, that's where you obviously belong. Racist? My arse.

Boo-yah! How ya like us now?
well one, are you really Irish, or do you drink Guinness once a year and listen to House Of Pain/The Pogues?
Two, Irish people are 'foreign' to English people and indeed your bizarre crass generalising point of view is insulting to English people as regards their view point and would be insulting to many Irish people who, quite rightly, get irritated when they get lumped in with the rest of the UK.
Dear Flaffy; Not really, I'm New Yorkish. Just that my parents are from Ireland, every single genetic relative I have is from Ireland, I hold an Irish passport, and have only been to Ireland oh, fifty times in my life. One of my uncles is a well-known Dublin journalist, another is a leading scholar and author on the Irish language who's guest-taught at Harvard, another two are city councilors in Derry. I realize this is a bore to read.
So, no, I am not Irish. Because I was neither born nor lived there for any length of time. To you, I am a Plastic Paddy, a dumb lout in green, just a stupid Yank who just, "drink(s) Guinness once a year and listen to House Of Pain/The Pogues". And you accuse
me of stereotyping! Rich.
But, I didn't mention myself; I noted that in the past, the bad old days, there really was a prejudice agains the Irish in England. One that I'm happy to see has receded; they have more in common these days than difference. You say I insulted the Irish by "mixing them up with the English", which I don't think I did, at all. Then you declare Irish people as foreign to English people. Which seems to prove my original, innocuous, and I thought uncontested historical fact of a point:
once, the English were prejudiced against the Irish. Not so much anymore.
Pointing out this simple historical fact does not mean I "insulted" the English either. How is this insulting? :
I do have a lot of sympathy for English people facing a flood of immigration. Because there really is a distinctive British/English way of life that is worth preserving, I would not like to see it lost.
Yes, terribly insulting. Go ankle-bite someone else, and learn to read, please.

Obviously you couldn't care less about Britain, just the right of Romanian's to flood this country which will happen and already has in other parts of Europe. Economic immigration they call it and when the hourly wage in Romania is about £1 an hour you can see why.
Perhaps if Romania was faced with a similar threat from a poorer country you'd understand but it is clear you really couldn't care less about Britain which I find sad really. More help should be given to Romania to increase the quality of life rather than just have people leave in huge numbers. That's what I would do, give financial aid to help with the Romanian infrastructure which is in desperate need of reform, same as Bulgaria. I suppose I will be called racist again by the same old people but my views are sensible and I wouldn't think that helping out these countries financially was a good idea if I was racist would I?
Anyway, come next January we will see what happens and I have no doubt whatsoever that we will see a similar influx as we did from Poland and Lithuania which is crazy as we simply do not have the space or services for that again. Time will tell.
The story in Brighton is fact, it happened these days for a reason. It could be just the beginning of persecution against the entire Romanian community in the UK, judging from what a "hot topic" Romania has become lately in the UK media. It seems people are so desperate there as if they haven`t seen immigrants in their (still...) Imperial country before, as if there aren`t large communities of people originating in Africa, Asia or West Indies already established in the UK... Who takes more advantage of the benefits system, the older, much numerous communities, or the newer ones? Most Romanians in the UK are there to work or to study - believe it or not!! Is it easier for the Daily Mail, the Sun & al to attack them, it seems, since the "older" immigrants` communities there are so eager to claim they are racially discriminated against. BTW, there is no racial issue when it comes to the Romanians (minus the Gypsies who are of Indian origin and never really integrated) - you know, we are Caucasian... The term to be used is "xenophobic" in this case!!
I said this before, the UK should change the laws regarding benefits when it comes to newcomers - I wonder why this doesn`t seem to happen soon. Or maybe the respective laws will be changed for everyone in the UK, the locals included, and then the Romanians and Bulgarians are going to be blamed for it?!
Anyway, anti-Romanian campaign in the British media has become almost rabid - I read about British journalists reporting from the most horrible places in Romania and believing all the stories of the Gypsies there who claim they are discriminated, now they tell about some horses in Romania who died of AIDS (??) and their meat has been sold (?? - no control?!) in the UK via France......... really sick. At this point I feel a little malicious joy at the thought that - quite likely - the real "plus" to the UK population after January 2014 will be the innocent Gypsies who feel discriminated here because they are told they have to work hard for a living. Our benefit system is scarce (for everyone, not only for the Gypsies), so now they know where to go in order to not be discriminated and be payed while doing almost nothing

This is a mean and ignorant thing to say. First, it`s so wrong to mention the "Eastern European countries" as a whole in this context, as if there aren`t so many different nations living there. The English, the French, the Spaniards are all Western Europeans - are they all the same?! And, believe me, you will be more safe on a not so central street in Bucharest than on a street in Tottenham at night.

Now this is mind-blowing. Are the Asians of "Eastern European" origin?

Pakistani. There is a lot of hate between Pakistani's and the British here. Although it works both ways. There are some area's in most big cities where different races simply do not mix.

Actually, Romania has always been more tolerant than many foreigners think. And it`s a land of plenty, believe it or not (but with terrible rulers...). Hence, so many minorities have been living here throughout the history, some of them arriving as refugees from the much less tolerant countries around. Most of them integrated quite well, without being really assimilated - and this applies to the Jewish community too, which only diminished dramatically during the last years of Communism.
Gypsies are a totally different case, they never really integrated - because of their culture, rather than from the hostility of the majority around. I don`t think they are discriminated against, actually they receive medical care in hospitals without ever paying insurance (since most of them don`t use to have jobs), also benefits are payed by the state to their numerous families and so on. One can tell they are actually positively discriminated. And this applies to the poor ones - you don`t want to know how bad the rich ones are... Anyway, say to a Gypsy they have to work for every penny because times are hard for everyone and they will feel discriminated against... They are essentially nomadic, and since life in Romania has been difficult over the last years, they started their migration again (often helped by criminal networks that exploit them). Nothing will stop them, except from maybe the ending of the "handouts system" in the Western Europe.

Corina, I agree with you, the "handouts culture" is probably the biggest problem but nothing can be done about it because of the EU. Britain is especially soft with this that's why so many illegals try to get over here from France. It is just plain wrong that somebody who has never contributed to this country can claim benefits, there should be a 5 year wait at least, that is fair to everybody as far as I'm concerned. Local councils now have laws where you are supposed to have a local connection to the area in order to get housing but that is easily bypassed by having children or already having children because they are seen as urgent cases and it is for the child's benefit more than anything.
It is crazy though because it just encourages immigrants to have kids and the number of children born in hospitals to foreign parents is incredibly large now in the UK because of this. I have a cousin who works as does his girlfriend and they have to stay at my aunt's house and have been refused help which is scandalous. If anybody deserves a council place it is them but they are not seen as a priority. They have a tiny room in a council house and it is just not right. Working seems to be a disadvantage nowadays.
And I have nothing against any other race or nationality, that doesn't mean that the borders to Britain should be an open door to them though because it is just unrealistic and does not benefit anybody at the end of the day, especially in such a difficult economic time.
