I was too lazy to write the ideas below myself, but I`ve just found this good (and true) post on facebook:JSDOUVRES wrote:Corina, I agree with you, the "handouts culture" is probably the biggest problem but nothing can be done about it because of the EU.
Corina, you are missing the point again, it's true that benefits shouldn't be given out so easily and quickly and madness that it is but your second point is just ridiculous. I am sick and tired of people telling me that Foreigners are the only people that will do certain jobs like cleaning and working on building sites, the truth is that most people just cannot afford to do these jobs because this ridiculous huge wave of immigration has brought wages DOWN, not up but down. Take builders for example, Polish builders work for much less money than your typical British builder because they can afford to, most of them have no mortgage and live in shared housing and even send money home which is worth a lot more there. I am sick of tired of hearing about how hard working all these immigrants apparently are, if they are such hard workers then why is their country of origin in such a state that they have to leave to get work? And if the British are so lazy then how have we built up such a good country that everybody want's to come here?Corina wrote:I was too lazy to write the ideas below myself, but I`ve just found this good (and true) post on facebook:JSDOUVRES wrote:Corina, I agree with you, the "handouts culture" is probably the biggest problem but nothing can be done about it because of the EU.
"Please remember that UK is more open to EU migration than most EU countries. You may not stay in Austria longer than 3 months unless you have resources - a job - health insurance and so forth. You have to register your place of residence with the police within hours of arrival. I think only UK allows EU migrants without employment or financial means simply to move to UK and live on benefit. The UK has often been the most open nation in Europe and then blamed the EU for the costs when it is the UK Government which promotes this open door policy where other EU states have been more circumspect. The British Government likes to have this crazy system so it can blame the EU and get cheap votes. But it is NOT the EU to blame but Westminster. I sense the UK Government likes to have an open door policy and then blame Brussels for its effects. In Central Europe there is no such policy. No job, no health insurance, no means for subsistence..no residency."
I`d add the fact that the 3 (or 6) months rule applies in most of the EU states (except the UK, of course).
And another post by the same fb commenter:
"I do not understand why my fellow Brits are so afraid of migration from Eastern Europe. A few weeks ago I met a class of East Europeans learning English in London. They were all working long days and then turning up for language lessons (which they had to pay for unlike in Austria where migrants get free German lessons). They were all Ukrainains, all well qualified, intelligent people, none were claiming benefit. People with degrees working on London building sites. Women teachers working as cleaners. Basically taking the jobs the Brits won't take and being determined to learn English. For years I lived in Oldham which had seen waves of migration from Bangladesh - bringing extended families who spoke no English then and still don't. The Churches closed and the schools faced classes where 90% of the children did not speak English. Then the Poles came, they re-opened the Churches, they worked all hours and they learnt the language and perhaps above all they integrated. On the whole East Europeans are used to hard work and don't expect to live on benefits (...) ...so there may come a day when it is the East European migrants who show the greatest respect for English culture and traditions - and many East Europeans speak better English than the Brits."
Which could also mean that many of them might go back to their country when they have enough money to buy a house or to start some business.JSDOUVRES wrote: Polish builders work for much less money than your typical British builder because they can afford to, most of them have no mortgage and live in shared housing and even send money home which is worth a lot more there.
Good questions. I don`t know about other countries in the East, but my country hasn`t still recovered from the long years of Communism. A large part of the industry disappeared - it just couldn`t keep up with modern times and foreign competition, despite being quite successfull before - and reconstruction isn`t still finished, so people had to go somewhere else to find work. Most of Romanians are resilient, adaptable and yes, hard workers indeed. It`s not their fault that the system here is so unrewarding. If only the Iron Curtain didn`t exist. Sadly it did ("thanks" to Mr. Churchill too...), so the West - where WWII actually started - could recover, thanks to the Marshall plan as well. We here lost the Cold war, there was no Marshall plan and we also have been "blessed" with a terrible and greedy ruling class.JSDOUVRES wrote:I am sick of tired of hearing about how hard working all these immigrants apparently are, if they are such hard workers then why is their country of origin in such a state that they have to leave to get work? The "1 million" figure it`s exaggerated. Romania and Bulgaria (whose economies have actually started to recover lately), just don`t have anymore so many working people able to relocate to another country. The unknown factor is how many Romanians and Bulgarians now living in Spain and Italy and who lost their jobs there due to crisis will come to the UK. And - of course - the scum people trafficked there in order to beg and steal... If I think better, they might still come, even without benefits offered to them. After all, there are much more turists in London and in Paris than in Bucharest... And to think there is still so much reconstruction work to do in my country, too bad that the EU funds haven`t been better managed. The better punishment for "the wandering scum" should be forced labour, but sadly there are always some outraged NGO`s saying that`s racist. Oh well.JSDOUVRES wrote: Britain is full, we don't have the space for another million Eastern Europeans and if that is racist then my name is Mickey mouse. Everyday I walk down the streets and more often than not I hear more Eastern European accents than British, I really do and that is madness, my country is losing it's identity and it has to stop now.
Well, I wonder how many such angry voters know that their factory could very well close - should UK leave the EU. This won`t happen, anyway.JSDOUVRES wrote: If there was a vote tomorrow on whether Britain should pull out of Europe and close it's borders to Eastern Europe then it would be a massive majority. !!
Yes, this story is a prime example of the state our country is in, the quote at the end sums it up perfectly “Benefits are there to provide a safety net when people fall on tough times, not fund an enormous house and a pony.” Absolutely spot on, we don't ever want a situation like china where families are limited to one child but people like this should be forced to work or have their benefits limited because basically they are just taking the piss.
Oh dear, more generalizations about Guardianistas. They're not condoning the woman at all. They're just putting it in perspective. Don't worry, I'm sure the majorjty now think that the case of that baby factory is a regular occurence. Read the article for what it is, not for what you think it is.Patrick Bateman wrote:And of course the apologists keep justifying it. God, I loathe Guardianistas.

Rubbish, maybe if they also dropped benefits and paid factory workers a wage they could afford to live on then the UK wouldn't need this slave labour force from Eastern Europe?Corina wrote:Well, I wonder how many such angry voters know that their factory could very well close - should UK leave the EU. Hehe, now you didn`t get my point. When I said that some factories in the UK might close unless the country stays a member of the EU, I didn`t think of cheap labour coming from the Wild East. I only thought of the huge EU market, which includes my country too. Have you ever thought how much the producers in the UK sell all over EU (no taxes...)? To only give you one example, Aquafresh (made in the UK) is the best sold toothpaste in my country.JSDOUVRES wrote:Rubbish, maybe if they also dropped benefits and paid factory workers a wage they could afford to live on then the UK wouldn't need this slave labour force from Eastern Europe?Corina wrote:Well, I wonder how many such angry voters know that their factory could very well close - should UK leave the EU. Sorry Corina, if you think for one minute that Eastern European workers are the people keeping this country afloat then you are wrong, all it is is an exploitation of cheap labour, not more, not less.
