i hate metamorphosis and question why its even near an album when obviously its a distinctly average b side. The survivors is an amazing track!! The kids add to it. Not impressed with single / bilingual, worst single choice by far.

I don't think they've been very unpredictable anyway - they've always made pop songs, whether that was using Spanish rhythms, guitars or pint-sized Antipodean gay icons. Some are just more successful than others.
If you think they are predictable, then tell us what are we expecting from Fundamental?

I know its electronic music but is it like Potemkin or Confession of a dancefloor (but better)?

Pop songs.

I'm not denying that they experiment but it's within certain confines.

Bilingual is terrible. It's actually the worst PSB studio album. Far worse than Release. I remember being really impressed by the way the first two tracks segue into each other so cleverly. I remember thinking that Metamorphosis and Electricity were pretty cool. I remember thinking that Se A Vida E was quite a good rallying cry against the forces of negativity after being inflicted with it endlessly during a stint working warehouses in the summer holidays while I was at university.

I also remember realising that It Always Comes As A Suprise could have been a Phil Collins song and that, even in spite of this, it was better than everything on the second half. Bar Red Letter day.

What a steaming turd.

............what usually happens now is that someone starts attempting to bicker with JSP, Paninaro or Arsespanker! No one is wrong as you cannot take someone's opinion away from them.

Debate is great, except when it's misguided and totally hypothetical (no names) so let's not go there.

For what it's worth, other than remixes and The Survivors (see my post in the "new to the forum" thingy), I haven't listened to Bilingual in ages!

Way I see it if you dont like an album, you are not really a fan. A dedicated fan understands the direction of a PSB album. Not getting stalled and stuck in the past.
What do you expect?

I'm not a fan because I hate Disco 2? What about the fact that I travelled to England, France, Germany to see them perform live or just to go record/cd shopping? (Which I never did for any other artist) I even bought several copies/formats of D2 after I found out how bad it was. So spending money on something 'useless' doesn't make me a fan either?
I don't think you're a fan because you accept everything they do. To me it sounds more like a brainless cow then. (Don't take this too personal ) Fans have the right to have an own opinion/taste and this is mine while still respecting yours.

I have trouble with this view too. I remember an arguement via e-mail with someone years ago because I dared to say a PSB track was crap. Just because I'm a PSB fan doesn't mean I have to robot like love everything they've ever done. 90% of their output I love, 5% I can take or leave, the other 5% are some of the most steaming piles of poo I've ever heard. It just so happens quite a few poo piles steam away happily on Bilingual (IMHO).

My opinion exactly! I love their releases
in general, but certainly there are a few
I don't like (as much as most of them) ...

... which is rather 'normal' I suppose.

I think a "dedicated" fan can appreciate a "change in direction" but it doesn't neccessairily mean they have to like it.

I can't see how any band could be releasing stuff for 20 years and not come up with some stuff that a person doesn't like,

I like Bilingual, Release and Nightlife a lot! :D

In case of Disco 2, they sound the same... but in a awful way... :? Actually, isn't Pet Shop Boys' fault, but the guy who mixed the songs'...

OK... it's Pet Shop Boys's fault. They shouldn've approved that...

Maybe that's why I never liked the song.

 Why is Billingual and Nightlife so different from the rest of the albums? They use latine sounds before on Introspective with Domino dancing. Noone complained then. Nightlife you could see as partly dance and techno oriented. Very is a dancealbum with tecnhoinfluence also. Behavior sound very different to previous albums being slower and less dance inspired. Noone complained. Release is a total change and then as a fan i think ok they need to try different things to develop but it doesn´t change the fact that Release is crap.
