The first "official" play of Pet Shop Boys' new single, "I'm with Stupid", will be on the Ken Bruce Show on BBC Radio 2 on Friday 31st March between 9.30am and 12pm. At 12pm the track will become available to all radio stations to play.
When it says "become available", does it mean there is a promo CD floating around?

Or Parlophone is distributing via Internet?

Promos will start to surface from end of next week/beginning of April.

Which it means: "no Radio 1 airplay".
No it didn't say that, it says Radio 2 will give it it's 1st official radio air play....But at 12pm any radio sation that has the promo can play it.
I'm agree with that but I suppose the debut of this single would have been on Radio 1 if this song were going to be played there and included on the Radio 1 "air play".

Radio 1 haven't given a PSB single official air play for years.

I think I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more was more or less the last single of PSB on Radio 1 playlist. They are "old fashioned" for them.

Anyway, really bad news for "Fundamental".

Errr, how is it "really bad news for Fundamental"?! Radio 2 is the most listened to Radio station in the UK. The only people who listen to Radio 1 these days are teenybopper chavs. I hardly think them not being playlisted on Radio 1 is a bad thing.

On another note, my local commercial radio station (Viking FM in Hull) have already started mentioning the PSB's are on the brink of a "major comeback" . They haven't given the PSB's any attention for years so it's nice that they're making an effort!

It is much better to be played by both (Radio 1 and 2) than only one. It's a fact that Radio 1 helps to improve the sales. If it were "the major comeback", I suppose Radio 1 would play "I'm with stupid".

I'm afraid it's not a fact that Radio 1 helps to improve sales (unless it's of the latest R&B chav band or the "indie flavour of the month"). In reality, Radio 1 stopped being relevent YEARS ago, especially in the case of the PSB's. Radio 2 is the most listened to station in the UK so I would say that would give them a pretty good chance of huge exposure. Basically, the average listeners of Radio 1 won't give a f*ck about a new PSB single.

Well, I'm not a British man so I don't know how much is the influence of Radio 1 nowadays but some years ago it was huge. Foreign radios had a reference on Radio 1 like the best way of knowing which songs were going to be hits. Maybe, it has changed now.

Anyway, I think is obvius that it's better to be played on BOTH radios than only one.
