Fundamental - a review is only one person's opinion

Flamboyant - I prefer the original demo version, followed closely by the single version The version that appeared on PopArt is crap IMO!

the single mix of Flamboyant is the definitive version IMO...

And there is nothing wrong with Kylie's "Slow" - it was a great track and a Kylie classic.

And besides - one persons opinion on Fundamental means absolutely nothing. If someone told you that such and such had a bad record - not to buy it, would you listen to them ? NO !! Everyones taste is different and everyone has the right to choose what they like and don't like.

Don't let someone tell you otherwise.

Perfect example - most PSB fans hate Release. I *adore* it. Its my 2nd fave PSB album.

wow, someone else who likes Release!....Hey, how great is Birthday Boy?....That is one of Neil's finest vocals ever (IMO).

When i first played that track to someone in my office (non psb fan) i asked them to guess who they thought it was....they couldnt tell. from the strange guitar intro, neil's un-psb vocal, their best guess was The Divine Comedy, because it sounded nothing like PSB - and thats the beauty of it....he was very surprised when i said it was PSB!!!

Yeah, Great track my favourite on Release!

I still think the song flamboyant is better than all the versions we have.
I just dont think the arrangemetns suit the song.

I think it would have fit well on release had it been done as an upbeat rock song with guitars.

I think Miracles is better than Flamboyant... 60%-40% at least...

I'd say 80% - 20%. Flamboyant is unbelieveably dull.

Funny, I *loved* "Flambouyant" and I also loved the entire Release album - it had an unforced spaciousness about it. I'm not sure why so many fans disliked it.

I really liked Release, too. I also loved Miracles. On the other hand, the only thing I liked about Flamboyant was the b-side and the video. The single mix is as dull as the album mix, it has to have the absolute worst cover of any PSB release. Flamboyant covers the same ground lyrically as Shameless, but Shameless is brilliant...now that should've been a single.

I really like Flamboyant. I think it's a lot less cynical than Shameless and there's real longing in Neil's voice.

Some of us will love it and some will not. Everyone has their own, valid opinion. I'm just annoyed at myself for getting caught up in the hype - I really thought it was going to be a fantastic record. And it's not, it's very average, with two great songs.

PS I love both mixes of Flamboyant - but the 7" is just slightly better

Everything about the Release project and the singles I adored. Definately IMO a great different direction for the guys, that they pulled off perfectly.
Release has some of the most beautiful, lush tracks ever - Birthday Boy, Email, You Choose, London, Home & Dry........brilliant.

And I don't care if the 'majority' of fans don't like it. I still play the album VERY regularly

I have to agree. I have rarely been more disappointed with a single package than I was with Flambo.

I strongly disagree. Flamboyant was a great single, in all it's versions and mixes, the video was great and the b-side was perhaps the best part of it all. A fantastic single package that restored my faith in PSB's ability to come out with great things if they really try.

I dont play the album "Very". I find it a bit too cheesy for my likings!
