Oh man, the lyrics are the best-written lyrics in pop- the most beautiful, quizzical, suggestive, obscure, yet always right and beautiful in the end.. so true.
I'm liking hearing that bobblekat says as a non native English speaker, he's just now enjoying the subtleties of PSB lyrics.
That's the brilliance- PSB lyrics are gems, and you'll be astonished as you get older how many phrases will apply to your life, suddenly.. how many PSB sentences are, well, quite true, for good and bad and everything else.
PSB - well, it's Neil, really, isn't it?- have written the very best lyrics of the last 25 years, In My Humble Frucking Opinion.
From PSB v. America: Eartha Kitt purring to Neil in a posh NYC hotel room:
"Oh, Liza tells me you write the most INTERESTing lyrics!"...
Yes he does, Eartha! Class act is Neil. He's up there with Cole Porter and a dozen others. Lyrics are underrated, good ones hard to find in pop music. But Neil deserves a medal for his lyrics, seriously.
