I like to see the mixes on a cd and have something to show for your money and have it in your hand.

Presumably many more people would purchase a CD2 than a 7" vinyl single. Do the combined sales of all three formats make up the chart position?

Combined sales do make up chart positions, and 7" vinyl is on the increase as far as sales are concerned (it's a nostalgia thing)
As for downloads, it IS NOT a bad decision. I personally can't bloody stand them, but as the chart rulings don't allow for additional formats then why would they waste time and money releasing a maxi-cd when the other formats would count towards the charts and a forth not?? Digital downloads are counted towards the chart position so why the hell not?
I would much rather have a cd to hold and put on a shelf, as most of us as fans / collectors of PSB do. But the general record buying public is no longer like that and we have to just put up with it. Depeche Mode have many mixes available on download from itunes etc. for their single releases of late that do not feature on commercial releases. We have to move with the times, simple as that.
Having said all this, i am hoping for a import maxi cd from somewhere!!!!

The various dance mixes of "I'm with Stupid" will be available for purchase on digital download stores. British chart rules only allow for three CD or vinyl formats to be released.

This should be the excuse for releasing the remixes via digital download.

What about this suggestion:

CD1
I`m with stupid
Girls don`t cry

Maxi CD
Mix1
Mix2
Mix3
Mix4
Mix5

DVD
i`m with stupid
The Resurrectionist
Ì`m with stupid Video

Then you have 2 B-sides,the mixes and the video. Why putting on an extended mix of The Resurrectionist. And why 2 B-sides????

And the only reason for buying the 7" is that it is a picture disc. So if only three formats count towards the charts do the downloads also count towards the chart position for stupid???
I want artwork not a silly low quality download.

Or even better still, why not release the CD singles as you suggested, but:

DVD
I'm With Stupid (video)
the Resurrectionist
The Resurrectionist (Goetz extended mix)

Since there's absolutely no point in having I'm with stupid as an audio-track only on the DVD single.

Didnt public pressure force the vinyl release of Can you forgive her?? Maybe we should all lobby EMI and get some form of limited CD/12" release of I'm with stupid?

There are some mixes that I only have on download or mp3 (like Sexy Northerner Dub, which I actually used to own on 12") but it isnt the same as having the actual product.

My feeling is that they are experimenting with this release.

Both New Order & Depeche Mode have put out loads of download only mixes on iTunes for their recent singles release.
I've just checked on there's 12 remixes of 'Jetstream' and 9 remixes of 'Precious'!

at 79p per track, which means to buy the complete remix set of Jetstream would set you back £9.48!!!

Why is it crap?

Its not the PSBs or EMIs fault that you only listen to music in your car - what do you have a Camper Van?

They will release stuff for the masses and not for individuals.

Now go out and get yourself a DVD player (I did for the Home And Dry single) and a cheap turntable from Cash Converters.

It does seem a little strange that a vinyl specific product like remixes will not be on a comercial 12". So if your a DJ that can't get their hands on a promo, you will have to make an illegal copy of your downloaded purchase to play at clubs. Oh and then with the new Dj licence you will be arrested!!

Can someone categorically confirm that the download remixes for 'I'm with stupid' will count towards their chart position?
If that's the case, great. I think the remixes for this song will be brilliant.
