It would be a perfect song if, after such long introduction & interlude, it had a proper ending. It finishes too abruptly.

It's so nice... so sensitive & sweet. I really love it. The production is IMPECCABLE.... simply stunning, superb...
I must say that I get the feeling that the track is unfinished: I do like the intro but the ending is a bit rushed... maybe it's just a feeling.... or.. maybe the ending is just an artistic "slam on the door"... have you thought about that?
VERY VERY GOOD... I'm so pleased with all the tracks!!! (except 4 I'm with Stupid). Fundamental is just what it's supposed to be: FUNDAMENTAL (a must have).

yeah I agree. I give this CD a 9/10 only taking away one point because a couple songs are so good there should have been more to them.

sure I would have liked it longer but neil said what he had to say and got out.its cool.
but this one is one of their best ballads in like 10 years.his vocal is so upfront and melancholy.
It is a freakin masterpiece.

I quite like it, needs to grow on me some more I feel. Though, I've a nagging doubt in my mind that this was something of a missed opportunity. I think they should have added a Neil vocal of 'I'm all alone, I'm all alone again' over the top of the strings after the first verse and turned that into the chorus, it would have added to the overall melancholy of the song. Or then again, maybe that would have been too obvious.
I like it, maybe not as much as I thought I would after reading some of the reviews, but my initial impression is that it needs something more to it. Great intro though.

Excuses is just beautiful. I like the fact that it doesn't outstay its welcome, just like Neil's persona in the song. I adore the change from the intro to "I walked into the room", and the way the warm chords kick in and Neil just starts singing. Superb.
