Can't you just wait and see what number the album is on Sunday? The Amazon chart is not especially indicative of the UK chart as a whole anyway.

Especially if they have trouble even delivering the pre-ordered copies of the album (read Janet's tread). Perhaps they have run temporarily out of stock, which naturally has an effect on their chart.

Just to add on to bookshopboys comment apparently there is a TV ad, someone at work said they saw it at the weekend. I haven't seen it myself.

Yes, there is a TV ad. I saw it on Sky One during 24.

The Amazon chart only shows sales velocity within a certain period. It is completely unreliable beyond telling you what is being bought at the moment.

Nickname, i'm not having a pop at you but you need to start getting a grip. You are posting a new topic every day about fu*kin amazon charts and using the words ''bad news'' in every thread!!

Stop obsessing over every chart there is and please, if you need to to post how it's bad news that Fundamental has dropped a few places in the Lidl charts, keep it in the same thread.

Yes, the first week chart position for an album must be academic to EMI. Of course number one would be nice, but presumably the total album sales over the summer/autumn period is the metric that matters. If the high level of promotion afforded to I'm with stupid is replicated with Minimal and the third single, and if the concerts drive more sales, then what matters is how the sales keep up. I would also have thought that what REALLY matters is net profit per act, not bald unit album sales, but that profit only rolls in once sales have reached a certain point.

What needs to happen is for people, after hearing the 2nd single, and then the 3rd, and so on, is to say to themselves, "wow, thats the 3rd (or 4th) great song i've heard from this band this year, i think i'll buy the album". There is a tipping point, where the masses catch on. If that happens, you could see album sales consistantly through the beginning of the year.

And I really think there is potential for that to happen, but time will tell.

Something else to consider, I bought my copy from CD-Wow. It arrived Tuesday with a post mark of Hong Kong. My copy won't even count towards chart position here.

But maybe I've helped get it in the top 5 in Hong Kong?

CD WOW is a Hong Kong company. I know it isn`t really apparent from the site as the prices are in sterling and they accept Maestro etc.

Not to give to much importance to the Amazon list, but Fundamental actually appears twice on the list. It is the regular 1-disc version that is at #16 at the moment.

They´re not on finnish charts.
Just guess what awful band´s album is number 1 here...
